If I play a 5.1 movie thru' USB port of a samsung tv and connect it to a Onkyo HT-S5600 or any other HTIB will it get decoded in the receiver?

Also help choosing between Onkyo HT-S5600 and Yanaha YT 299 is required.

If the USB is connected to the TV, then TV will play the movie. You can get the AVR or HTIB to play the sound by making the appropriate settings in the TV.

If TV and AVR support ARC then a simple HDMI connection will suffice for carrying the sound from TV to AVR.

If ARC is not there you will have to connect the audio out of TV to AVR through an additional RCA audio cable.

Thanks Jagdish. Onkyo HT-S5600 supports ARC. Do all current models of led tvs support ARC?

Onkyo HT-S5600 or Yamaha YHT 299? Pl help choose.

Depends what you want, you should go for demo for each and compare the sound in movie and music...
Personally I like Yamaha YHT,, you can even go for yht 399 it cost you lesser then 299 in amazon.in

If your TV has Optical or Co-axial out, then you can also connect TV to AVR using Optical cable(also called as Toslink) Or Coaxial cable, provided you have optical or co-axial inputs available on your AVR.
In that case you need to change Audio out setting on your TV accordingly.
