Using ARC with USB drive - possible?

A question on usage.

My setup is the following

I have a HTPC connected via HDMI to the tv on HDMI 1, which allows for ARC. (So I use the 5.1 setup on my computer for sound). TV speakers are off.

The only drawback I see is that I don't get sound when I use a USB stick directly on the tv.



I have 2 questions

1. Is it possible?

2. If yes, how can I tweak the settings?

Good question. Never tested it. I am aware that it is available for other HDMI sources in Samsung though only limited to 48kHz Stereo PCM. Better to connect the optical output to get proper Stereo/DD/DTS output.

^ You mean he has to establish a connection between the optical out of LCD and the computer ?. Or between optical out and reciever ? ( in case if he is using one )
