Wanted to connect my Marantz TT player with my Norge power amp. However the Norge doesn’t have a volume control.
In comes the Wiim Pro streamer
I connected the Marantz to Wiim Pro (analog). Took the digital out from Wiim Pro and fed the Wiim to my new R2R DAC. The R2R DAC is connected to the Norge power amp and does oversampling.
I raised the volume with a lot of caution but the sound is absolutely clean and pristine.
The purists will definitely frown but the R2R is adding a whisky like smoothness and because of the conversion there are no annoying clicks or pops (purists pls excuse)
The sound is very different from the usual digital stream from Apple - all I can say is that it’s very pleasing to the ears. Being in digital domain it must be the DAC magic but worth trying.
