^ yes i have imported TV from Singapore. There is a big Grey market with almost 500 shops at a stretch of 2 kilometers where in Chennai called the Burma bazaar where they sell stuff they import from Singapore,Malaysia and Dubai.

its your personal choice really. This is how it works, when you ask for a specific product to a merchant then he will charge you the product price in Singapore +carrying charges depending upon the weight of the product.

If you want then i can inquire you and PM you know the approx price of this TV inclusive of bringing it to India.

These kind of gray market must also be available in your city. In Chennai its very common and a large group of vendors do this as a regular business and import products for all over India. No wonder Burma bazaar is the biggest gray market in India.

The locally available LCD's from sony and samsung would not stand a chance in terms of pic quality and build quality when compared to the 9704 or certain models of sharp LCD.9704 has a better LED local dimming(they make their own LED and experts in it) technology and a pic processing chip(17bit RGB, and the chip itself is capable of processing huge chunk of data).

The 9704 has better LED local dimming than 2008's 9803.

wait for the newers sharp tvs with a brand new next generation in lcd tech http://www.hifivision.com/television/6368-next-generation-lcd-tech-sharps-uv2a.html to arrive.no local dimming LED backlight tv can substitute a tv that has pixel level edge in black levels.
in the mean time u can always go check out the 46X450A available mostly in sonyworlds outlets.
the grey market dealer get most of the lcd from thailand,the price of the last years philips 42" LED lcd tv is 2.8lakh in thailand,so u can have a idea of how high the price of it will be if imported.

so as 1 singapore doller= 34 INR so 52" model price is 204000 so 40" and 46" should be very less (I guess so).
