What RCA Cables and Speaker Cables to import from Unites States.

For those fancy Furutech and ETI Bullet RCA plugs here are some sources at reasonable prices

Furutech RCA's: The construction of first two (FP-104 and FP126) look good but the last one looks flimsy (the clamping part holding cable).
FURUTECH FP-104
FURUTECH FP-126
FURUTECH FP-162

and finally the offer looks irresistible :D
ETI Bullet plug Tellurium Copper

I have Mogami W2549 lying. I'll try it when I buy one of these connectors sometime soon.

Dear FMs,

I finally placed the order for the Mogami W2549 & Mogami W2534 for RCA interconnects and Canare 4S8 for speaker cables. No body agreed to hand carry these items, so i went ahead and ordered it through ishopinternational. Since the items were not very costly i decided to go ahead with ishopinternational during their 50 % discount offer.

I am happy to inform you that FMs Manniraj and OM Mishra have joined this DIY RCA effort.

Regards, Amit

@Amit: any progress on your Mogami cable DIY?

@Amit: any progress on your Mogami cable DIY?

Hello Joshua,

Sorry i could not update the status of this. It has been slightly busy from last few weeks.

I recieved the cables in the 2nd week of December. But we didnt do the DIY interconnects. After some discussion with FM Manniraj we decided to get the cables and connectors soldered with the help of FM Hifipal4all(Ramesh). He know somebody who is good at making interconnects/terminating the wires. We got 4 pairs, i kept two and FM Manniraj kept two. I got cables for FM OMishra also, however i sent him the raw cables as he wanted to soldered them himself. The interconnects have come up well. I think this can be a very good option for budget conscious people. I have not calculated the final cost but i think i will be around 1100 to 1200 for each pair of interconnects. This include cost of cables mogami 2549 + Nuetrik Rean Connectors + Soldering Charges(can be saved).

FM MAnniraj can comment more on the performance of these interconnects, He also got one pair interconnects made from Mogami Cables from US. He can tell you the diff between the one imported from US and the others soldered locally.

Regards, Amit

@manniraj & omishra: please post your impressions on the famed Mogamis :)

I also bought some length of W2549 (and 3103) but haven't got down to putting together a cable. Already bought Neutrik ProFi RCA connectors, too. Currently, I am experimenting with some other (DIY) cable for both single ended and balanced connections. I will give my impressions of this (other) cable some other day.

@omishra: hope you have recovered fully. Get well soon!

@Joshua

I have the Mogami 2549 interconnects (professionally soldered from proaudiola.com site) got through one of my friends last year from US. Now with Amit/Mishra got hold of the Mogami 2549 bare cables and the Neutrik connectors from Kiran sales and got the soldering done locally from one of the FMs. I have not felt any difference between the professional termination from the US site or the DIY of the same bare wires from our side. If somebody is interested in getting these cables I would suggest to avoid the professional termination from US as the same can be done DIY.

Very happy with this effort as I can feel its far better than my earlier Belkin and DAC cables. The instrument separation and bass are clear and crisp. Clarity has improved and I recently got hold of a pair of Blue Jeans cable from one of the FMs and felt that the Mogami is on par with these cables. I do not have any high end cables before this and I feel these are high end cables for me with the modest system setup that I have :licklips:

I would say the best VFM cables so far purchased/DIY as we can get a pair of 3ft for under 1.2k including the connectors/soldering.

Edit: Even I got hold of the W3103 speaker cables through one of my friends and they are superb. The comparison is again with my previous cables from DAC and QED 42/2. My above statement with regard to the 2549 holds good even with the 3103 as well. I now have this combination for my CD and TT sources and the Blue Jeans running my music-pc.
Thanks

Thanks Joshua, Captain for your concern. I am okay. Need some more rest. Just recovering from pneumonia.

These bare cables are with me. Not got time to mess around. Will do sometime, not planned.

The DIY community is awaiting your come back, get well soon mishraji :clapping:

Sorry if I'm a little off topic but I had a query related to cables.

I'm thinking of replacing the stock RCA cables of my Technics TT with :

Bandridge SAL4202 PRE Stereo Audio Cable 2 x RCA M - 2 x RCA M 2.0 m Data Cable - Bandridge: Flipkart.com

Will these be good? FM Sachin had suggested :

AmazonBasics 3RCA Component Video Cable 6 Feet / 1.8 m: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

However the AmazonBasics RCA cables are not available in India (atleast online). So would the Bandridge cables be sufficient. There's also this available on Flipkart :
Bandridge SVL3302 PRE Component Video Cable 3 x RCA M - 3 x RCA M 2.0 m Data Cable - Bandridge: Flipkart.com

Is there any difference between this link and my 1st link (apart from the fact there are 3 cables instead of 2)? Would this be a better replacement for the TT cables?

Regards,
Saket.

Component video cables are available from MX: like this

Or this.

But if you can find it, use RG 174 coaxial cables with REAN RCA connectors. This type of cable usually have low capacitance. You can solder it yourself, or find someone competent who can do it for you.

Another thing is confusing me..Should I use only the green cable for the TT? Or can I use blue and red as well? Does the green cable have better shielding than the other 2?

I'm not clear about your doubt - which green cable are you referring to? Or blue and red?

Toyo Connectors, Lamington Road, Grant Road, Mumbai. Contact details here. I just spoke to them. They will ship to Bangalore. Rs 33/m. Buy 15-20 m each, you can use in future projects too. A few shops after this store you will get Kiran Sales - they do Neutrik and REAN connectors (and techsleeves, heatshrinks, lugs, Belden audio cables, etc).
