Hi .. I am new to this forum need sm help deciding an amp for music listening.. initially I was planning to setup a home theater on shoestring budget as n when money comes so I bought jamo s406 5.1 speakes and was looking for a 5.1 avr for it. But then I came across thia guy who deals in vintage n used gears and listened to sm great sounding stereo amps n old speakers like pioneer c 407 denon pro fx and all.. now I am confused as to
1. Whether I shd go for stereo or surround ...my music n movies 50 50 %
2. I have almost payed him for a pioneer 616 markll amp it good but not truely satisfied. ?. Shd I go for it..is it a deal worth 10000 rs.
Coz i put in sm more money if I get beter sound.
3. If at all I buy this one are my jamo speakers good enuf of shd I buy sm matching ones.
Please help me decide whether i shd gor for this one or look for sm other amp which satisfies both my 5.1 and stereo listening . My present budget is 25k and willin to spend another 25 k in coming year.
Thanks a lot in adwance

Having already invested in 5.1 speakers you should go with an AVR. As you may know many stereo amps are better than AVRs when listening in stereo mode - but not by a lot. And if you go stereo you will certainly miss the surround effect when watching movies.

Rather than spending 25k now and 25k after a year, if possible spend a bit more on an AVR now and you don't spend anything next year on a receiver.

I guess you can consider AVRs from Onkyo and Denon. Not aware how Yamaha would pair with Jamo in general! You will also enjoy a lot of useful technologies featured on the current amps which you won't get with the old Pio Stereo Amp.
