Which region-free BlueRay player to buy?

Hi

Is there any blue ray player available in India which is region free ? Yesterday I went to Sony shop and the guy said the Rs 9990/ player to be launched (model 360 I guess) is not region free. What is the strategy you guys are adopting ? We will buy blue rays from various sources - India, US etc. So, isnt a region free blue ray player mandatory - ideally ?

Currently nothing in India.Panasonic,Oppo can be made region free with mod kits.

You'll have to buy a blu-ray player and get a mod kit. Nothing available 'region free' off the shelf. The Oppo mod kits can be clipped on fairly easily. Other mod kits require soldering. so the path of least effort would be to get an oppo, a mod kit and then clip it on. Even less effort (but a lot more expense) would be to order a pre-modded player from ebay or one of the foreign sites.

You can buy that Sony Player from Sony India i.e S370 for Rs.9990 and then order a mod kit from Blu-rayMods- Home or Stegen Electronics, the mod kit comes with detailed instructions and with the help of a TV mechanic or Game console modder you can get it fixed inside the player for a complete region free operations for DVDs as well as Blu Rays.

Your correct, but its with out the HDD.
