When I tried to upgrade from win 8 to win 8.1 I got the following message "You can't install Windows 8.1 because your processor doesn't support PrefetchW" It seems like this is a problem with 64bit machines running with AMD processors. Is there any way that I can upgrade to win 8.1? Mine is a legitimate win 8.0 copy bought through online.

Same problem when my friend tries to install too although pirated edition :D Seems like you've to upgrade your proccy for installing the 8.1 so we've decided to stay with 8.

Well it can be upgraded if it was 32bit but if it is 64bit this problem arises. Strange Microsoft always thinks out of the box to make sure that we get screwed once we endorse their product. No wonder android is a market leader.

just replying to this old thread ...

i successfully upgraded to 8.1 on my vaio last night. yet to start using the machine and experience differences, if any. also inclined to try music apps and s/w hoping there could be some features for a music lover to discover!
