Xtreamer Media Player (XMP) Owners Thread

Venkatesh,
Did you get a chance to test any Dolby TrueHD Audio files ?. coz I have tried testing couple of them and I don't see Dolby TrueHD show up on AVR. But the clips that I have tried are of very short duration.

I came across this link : Xtreamer denies / censors truth on HD Audio RTK?
Xtreamer denies / censors truth on HD Audio RTK? - MPC Club Community Board

The link has mentioned RealTek chips cannot natively support bit streaming of HD Audio (DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR, Dolby True HD.

Hi,

I didnt have the opportunity yet to test the signals. I need to see if I can download some small clips over the net. I will do that today and let you know guys!

Cheers!

Xtreamer is not able to pass-through HD audio as of now but with future firmware upgrades this might become possible. When we play HD audio contents through Xtreamer then it downmixes the same.

Following link says :It was revealed in February 2010 that neither the Realtek 1073DA, 1073DD, or the 1283 can passthrough (bitstream) Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA. This is a hardware issue and is unlikely to ever be resolved.

I have read that and in the Past too the same issues with Xtreamer has been raised, I can just hope for the best and if HD audio is not taken into account then too Xtreamer is a very capable player for its asking price.

Hi,

I just tested my xtreamer in and out with at least more than 5-6 HD video clips having DTS-HD, HDMA, Dolby TruHD, etc., but I dont see the blue light glowing on my Denon!

Xtreamer site says clearly that it can handle all the above codecs:mad:!

Also, in the same time, today I was listening to Internet FM through Xtreamer, awesome quality at 128Kpbs and 160kbps.

Cheers!

Hi,

Does it downmix the HD audio to it's respective 5.1 surround or does it indicate unsupported format for HD audio.

thanks.

Hi,

I can see the DTS signal, which means yes, it does downmix to 5.1, I didnt see any message like unsupported format or something!

Cheers!

I have been using xtreamer for over 6 months and i am happy with the product, i have not upgraded to the latest firmware so i don't know how it is, but with respect to playing files, it has played everything that i have thrown at it, which makes me happy about the same, the wired connection works great, even the wireless one is fine.

In all the product has not disappointed in spite of it being unknown when it was launched initially.

Hi,

I've seen a lot of people saying this statement of throwing and playing, IMO it's not throw something and play something, but throw something and play the same thing.:D

cheers.

Guys,
Even I tried testing few Dolby TrueHD sample files. When I see the file info on Xtreamer it clearly displays Dolby TrueHD but on AVR display it doesn't show up as True HD. Btw I have noticed some sound difference between AAC/FLAC/OGG/WAV 5.1 PCM and DTS/PCM 5.1. While playing sample files with DTS/PCM 5.1 I noticed it has very good loudness factor to it ....I mean its loud but when I switched to AAC/FLAC/OGG/WAV 5.1 the loudness is gone. I mean I had to increase the volume for the same sample file.
Are you guys having the same issue ?

Worse part is Xtreamer Pro supports doby tru hd audio and Xtreamer won't , now i find that fishy and a bad move for older customers that actually made the product successful.
It was always promised that firmware fix will get the feasibility, now it is only there for Pro and not for basic which i feel is a bad move.

Promising features on the initial product which are never provided and then launching the same on a newer product stating that we didn't get license is bull.
If you pay for the license you will get it.

Giving a discount on the new product to old customers does not help in resolving the issue for me.

Answer from Xtreamer.net

"XT-1 is fully capable of delivering this feature but as we mentioned lots and lots of times and as it is stated in the report there is a legal issue. We fought for it, we tried to do all we could but DTS Labs had an obligation to a third party. In the end they did not allow us to implement it into the existing model.

That is (as it is stated in the report) why we offer 50 Euro rebate on XTPro purchase to all the XT-1 owners worldwide. This turn of events was not caused by us but we feel obligated to do something for our customers. Surely you can appreciate that?"

damn!! damn!! damn!! so I am stuck with something which is neither a good music player, nor a good movie player. And above all, people tell me to shut up!

Sumit, my advice would be to get out of dealership with these guys who sold a product on future promises and then dare to say that it was not caused by us.

Thank you anm for your suggestion.

We are committed to our customers to whom we have sold Xtreamers. And to provide support to them, we are with Xtreamer.net. :)

It is not a bad product after all. As per the feedback/database of our Indian customers, just 5-7% miss DTS-MA/Dolby True-HD. Most of them dont have Media and AVRs to decode that.

About the quality, many forum members have bought from us, we have not received a single unit becasue of any harware problem. So far, in last 5 months, we have received just 2 units where user was not able to select the right option or a firmware update was required. Any member can come up if we are claimimg anything wrong.

So, we are happy selling Xtreamers.

But anyways, there is message in your suggestion that you are our wellwisher no matter what you feel about the product. That is really appreciated. :)

Xtreamer sale shootup in India( i am not telling completely) because of Hifivison members discussion intialy before launch and after launch...

Completely it is an let down from the promise... I have got the said decoding capability receiver in year 2007 itself... Why 6 to 7% miss this, are these are the foolish members are part of hifivision communnity only???? I believe almost 70% of the members have the decoding capable receiver. It is not that new : only xtreamer is doing / almost all media players promise were going like this.

Guys these are the marketing ways to stay in the field like this and increase the sales figure every year...

I had some discussion with some of the members here and strongly told that there will be another version will be released soon( like WDTV follows every year) and make our community to purchase it..

The right thing MPC done and removed from their endorsement before Pro was launched.

Hi,

Most of us here have AVRs and sufficient amount of supported media, but why xtreamer has to advertise when it cannot support HD audio.

In fact, my prime reason for buying xtreamer was its HD audio compatibility, but now!

Anyway, Xtreamer is good in lot of other areas, so I am now a happy Xtreamer.

Cheers!
