Yamaha R-S500/700

Please don't show me things I cannot afford :D. Off topic, there's a Harley-Davidson showroom near my place. I don't go near it in fear of getting sucked into it.

I understand buddy.:D

Those Harley's makes you drool as much as these Yamaha Centennial Collection.

But truly speaking I am really amazed that Yamaha used to make those ultra high end audio equipment's.

Anyway my fav is Harley V Rod.:)

I'm all for FatBoy. But at 18 Lakhs its a dream for at least 3-5 years. I own a Thunderbird, it works good as of now. Next will be Harley only. :). I think we've gone off topic :D.

I sincerely hope your dream comes true.

Thank you rishiguru. You are too kind.

Guys I have a another question. Maybe off topic a bit, but nevertheless Hi-Fi related. Is there an analog chain in a HT receiver or any receiver that has digital inputs. What I mean to say is does all input signals pass through ADC/DAC circuit in any receiver with digital inputs, or does the analog inputs such as phono/tape bypass the digital conversion. I'm asking this because I have most of my collection on tapes and vinyls. If in the rare case I do not opt for RS-500/700 and go for a marantz/HK will they be able to preserve the analog properties of the input signal?

So far, I havent had any problems. I use this receiver for about 3-4 hours a day. I hardly use AM/FM function. I only use it for 2-channel music. Also, I like to hear live concert DVDs (without the visual), thru its video inputs. I prefer to hear the CD playback thru optical input since I feel the onboard DAC delivers the sound better. HK3390 does not host digital inputs/Dolby Virtual.

Once I had problem with the dimmer function, on the remote, that quit working. I had to reset the remote by removing the batteries to activate this function. These HK receivers are in the market since 2008, you may check for any quirkiness about these receivers from users that are available at other AV forums.

Yamahas look solid, and they have got good reviews too, if the price is right go for it .

Thank you christian, for sharing that experience. And yes I do have my heart set on Yamahas, just waiting for my friend to report back to me with his feedback and then I'll order one.

Also ARVASUDE I called one of the Yamaha dealers in Delhi, the price for NS-555 pair in Delhi is 33K. This was a dealer in Connaught Place who does not deal in Yamaha explicitly. He also did not have RS series. My friend will report the prices from a Yamaha dealer in Gurgaon soon.

Sorry for the delay guys, my friend had fever. Anyways got the feedback from him. R-S500/700 are not available in India. I've also checked with many other vendors, Yamaha did not release these in India. I'm a bit skeptical about ordering online (many horror stories at ebay forum). So, I'm going for A-S500 with NS-555s. The prices for these are 23-34K and 32-33K respectively.

I guess we can close the thread now. Thank you all for your support and feedback on this topic. Regards.

At last we get the news, though I was thinking in the same line as Yamaha India website does not show R-S500/700.

Good choice. :)

What is the cost of AS700? If it is within your budget, go for them. Even better.

Here is a request, if you can keep. Please write your own feedbacks/ reviews of this amp/ speaker combo if possible. We will be avidly waiting for your response.

Thanks in advance.:)

Sure rishiguru, I'll be happy to share the experience of this unit with you guys. It might take sometime though. I'm in Hyderabad right now, will go to Delhi in about 1-2 months, only after that can I provide some review of the system. Will keep you guys posted. Regards.
