Yamaha RX V371 owners need help ?

How did you reset the avr?

By following steps -
1. In the standby mode. Pressing and holding the "straight" push button on the front panel switch on the avr using the front panel power button. Receiver will get switched to advanced setting option.
2. Using the input selector change the menu to "init: cancel".
3. Use "straight" button to change the value of init to "All".
Init: All
4. Switch off the receiver by front panel power button and switch it on again.

That should reset the receiver.

Koushik,
I suspect your AVR's HDMI out. Did you try to disconnect/connect hdmi cable when things (TV, AVR etc) are switched on?
I am asking this because it may not be a safe practice to use HDMI that way

Ravi,
Not sure if I have done that. I am using this receiver for last 5/6 months. The last time I played(at most a day before) it was working well. As my tv doesnt have ARC, so connected the analog output of tv to an analog input of the receiver. It worked. Then when I switched to Hdmi of the tv there was no signal. And after that I tried all the settings in the world but in vein. From that point of time I am clueless.

Using the RX-V371 for instrument playback

I wonder if anyone can assist me, I have the RX-V371 connected as a surround sound unit connected to HDMI devices, works great. I want to input a live instrument via a mixing board so that the instrument can be heard through the speakers. I can make this work in 2 channel stereo mode with no latency but am unable to get it to function using all 5 speakers without latency. In 5 channel mode, it appears that the sound is processed and the latency begins. Is there a way of making a custom scene or speaker setup that powers all the speakers but does not process the sound? Any assiistance would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

^^ Under DSP settings there should be a multichannel stereo option which will send the sound to all speakers.

I don't know much about receivers and have a couple questions. I want to get a Grace internet radio receiver but I think I need to connect it to some sort of a/v receiver, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm looking at a Yamaha RX-V371 or 373. Probably a stupid question but do I need a TV screen to use the Yamahas? All I want to do is listen to internet radio in my shop through some decent speakers. Any form of help would be great! Thanks in advance!

AV Receivers are mainly for movies with surround sound. For music a stereo amp + pair of book shelf or floor standing speakers is the best. You don't need AVR to listen internet radio.

A question for Yamaha AVR user:

My fronts are DIY 4" BS Speakers and don't have SW. When I set YPAO, they cross my speakers to 160Hz. Which is good. But when I manual try to set it, it doesn't go any lower than 40Hz.

My question is whether I can set it below 40Hz or not? Because I want to build a floor stander with 8" and not use a sub. But if Front LR doesn't go below 40Hz then I will be missing the fun (as I am already) even after building a FS. In that case I would rather go for a DIY active sub and take the sub out route of the AVR.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

IMO, it doesn't go beyond 40Hz....I suppose you can go to setup> speaker configuration and then in GEQ settings you can enhance the LF as per your preference.

Thanks bpranay.
Yes I can enhance it by GEQ but the AVR will not give out frequency below 40 Hz to the speakers. So, thanks for confirming that to enjoy thumps below 40, I have to take output from sub out to active sub.
