Hello,

I brought an yamaha rx-v371 receiver a week back from US and without noticing the power requirements(i know :), connected to 240V and after sometime I heard a click and some minor burnt smell. The AV wont work anymore. Before going to the service people, just wanted to confirm that nothing major might happened (like frying the main board).

Thank you in advance.

The fuse might have blown off. That's optimistic.
Your device might have just died. That's pessimistic.

The click sound is that of the relay jumping into action on high voltage. Probably the fuse only is burnt.

In most probability, the power unit is gone. The best will be to get a replacement 220v version and install that inside. You may need to import that from Singapore or something.

Cheers

Normally there is a small transformer to switch a relay initially after the diagnostic function, then only the main transformer gets power. If you are lucky it would be replacement of that particular transformer only. Normally it is located separately with the convenience (power) outlets.

In addition you can try Power Electronics 044-28419133. They are authorized Yamaha Service Center, since you are also in Chennai

Good luck and cheers
