The new line of budget Yamaha AVRs have been launched.

Someone in Yamaha had a brain freeze and they have included a feature called 'Virtual Cinema Front' which provides surround sound with 5 speakers in the front. I can understand that some users may have placement issues for rear speakers, but they'd still be better off by disconnecting the rear speakers and just using a 3.1 system.

The feature virtual front is existing in the HTiB systems like Panasonic and Philips...honestly I feel Yamaha is trying out new stuff to stay alive in the market.
