Panasonic DMP-60

Hi,

......
It is a nice feeling when you get the package in your hand and you find the stuff working:D after its journey all the way from several thousand miles:yahoo::yahoo: under the hands of risky people.....and after making several phone calls and going through a period of stress....but will I stop buying stuff from US because of the present experience....no, never, this will continue forever...it is always a thrilling experience....for me....somethings, it is worth taking risks!:yahoo:

Cheers!

After all the risk's involved and safe landing of your product, you still saved 2k on the product as opposed to getting it from 20north directly.:ohyeah:

ENJOY!!!!!!:clapping::clapping:

someimes, it is worth taking risks!:yahoo:
Cheers!

It was for this BR player atleast, considering the huge price difference...
Anyway Congratts for the delivery, and you got to have an HDMI cable to see the PQ, component is no way near to HDMI.

Guys,

Got the BRp modded this sat. Went to Delhi's Shopping Heart..."Palika" and got the chip soldered.(Thanks to Ashish for introducing me to this gem of a guy for this task) The player PCB does have tiny ICs and connection. Its better to have an experienced person to do the job. For my tech guy it took hardly 10 minutesfor the same. The funny part is I was not able to find a BR Region C, anywhere to test the player...... all were ALL Reagions....strange....anyway, afterchecking couple of stores and atleast 50-60 BRs i could find only one "Night Of the Museum 2" BR that was region B and C. So got the BR poped in did a small initiall setup and the second funny part, rather strange is that the BR started playing without even setting the player to play region B or C, as if the disc was region free. I rechecked the disk and it does show region B,C mentioned at the back of the disk.

@Ashish you had a doubt...posting a pic that show, the disk IS region B and C

anyway I was more than satisfied the disk was playing flawle.... :yahoo:

So finally the mission is completed. :thumbsup: Got the player, got the chip, got the player modded successfully :cheers:.............and finally I have a reagion free BR player.:yahoo::yahoo:

Posting few more pics of the modding done...

Is the european version of DMP-60 (on amazon.uk for 150 ~ 10,500k INR) also moddable by this chip+soldering? Except the region and voltage, the players should be the same, are they really and will this mod work on the european version?

For European model of this player you have to buy a different chip which is Pal enabled, but the rest of the process remains the same. Check it out at Blu-rayMods- Home or Stegen Electronics

Have got info that Panna India will be releasing two BD players here the BD 30 and the BD 60 - price is expected to be around 24K. (The set could be Firmware Mod....)

The EU dealers ( Bluraymods/ Stegan ) mentioned above seems to be very high priced ( 300+) compared to US mod players, which are availble from some US dealers for $299 or less. If we order 2 + pieces prices fall further.

......

BD-60 is out officially in the Indian market for about 9-10 months or more.
And in bangalore they've stopped BD-30 (that's what the showroom people claim)

cheers.

Both the models are already avaliable here with Panasonic dealers but the prices are insane in comparison with the US prices for the same models which sells for around 8k after conversion. Also the website links are meant to order the DIY mod kits rather than the player as the labour cost is expensive there so it's best to order just the kits from them rather than the modded players.

Venkatesh brought his BDP-60 to my house today hook it up with my Mits4900 PJ and PQ is really good and loading time was resonably good than my ps3 and flawlessely read all the disks..:)

More to tell about SQ it rattled the house combining with my AVR marantz 7002.. It got good features and various inbuilt sound functions/options.. It is an Good audio CD player too and have remaster options and mp3 / DTS audio disks were sounding good... Not tried any bhajans or instrumental..

Thanks Ashish & Aneer - I happened to meet a fairly SENIOR Panasonic guy who on my query -apparently spoke to someone in his office and gave me that Info !!!!! :rolleyes:
Oh well ...Thanks again.

@sam9s

How much did you pay for the modification ?

Well I'd say the price could be anything between 500INR (depending upon the complexity, what I paid is different coz the guy knew ashish (his old customer) and charged me almost nothing....

Hello Fellow Members,

Finally my quest for buying a bluray player comes to an end. Just ordered one from 20north for Rs.10150/- (the price keeps fluctuating a lot, not sure why). Will be getting it in 15 days.:yahoo:

I did try for the JVC, but was costing 2k more than panasonic.

So for once I'm going to be a good boy by putting an end to my 1080p movie downloads:lol:(but 1080p demo's and music videos will continue;)) and start purchasing original Bluray of my entire collection. May be I can start a separate thread where all my original movie list goes.;), if needed.

cheers.

9000(player, including shipping and custome)+5000(mod)+500(modification)=14500 INR. And its working flawlessly.
