thanks for the offer for etrayz,, Can this be extended to xtreamer + wifi antenna for Rs.8290 as in ebay by other seller?

This is a great offer.. (But Iam not sure how the seller can arrive at this price when the supposedly all india distributer cannot.)

Add to that ebay is giving free valentine's day gifts for purchases this week which costs ~500-1000, I find it a steal. People who are planning, this is the high time.

Guys, Have a query on the etrayz.
Is it anything more than a NAS? If so how is it VFM (primarily considering the price of 12+k?)

I found a WD NAS, mush smaller and with 2TB of attached storage and 3years On-Sight warrenty for 15.5k in ebay.

eBay India: My Book World Edition WDH1NC20000 NAS server - 2 TB (item 140381808378 end time 10-Mar-2010 21:13:08 IST)

Why would anyone prefer the etrayz over this? If anything, WD is more popular than xtreamer in storage/NAS department?
(I agree xtreamer has an edge when it comes to media playback/software updates, But it does not apply here?)

P.S: I have no idea of buying either as of now, but just want to know the rationale behind the pricing.

Bold one by MPCC, it is known fact everywhere the reviews were quoted in support of xtreamer is of MPCC only, however the reasons of banning/barrring are different and appreciable one :clapping::clapping:

MPC club had asked them certain questions on the product and why certain features were still not available, along with other queries, as they are avoiding to respond to the same and answer the same, hence it lead to this. In the end it makes sense as for us users if we get those fixes or options in place we will benefit and the product features and performance will also improve.

Well! I have taken the plunge. Mine should arrive by end of this week.

According to the seller, this price is only for this listing after which it will go back to 8990 + shipping.

Hi Friends,

Got my xtreamer and wifi antenna today through the ebay for Rs. 8290! Checked it with various formats, works well. I think I dont have to go into an extensive review now, as it has been thoroughly discussed in the previous threads.

I did a small comparison of the xtreamer for both SQ and PQ with my HTPC, Pana BD (for upscaling DVD), Denon 1910 upscaling:
Sound:
1. Pana BD.
2. HTPC
3. Xtreamer
4. Sammy DVDp

PQ (upscaling):
1. Pana BD
2. Denon 1910
3. Xtreamer
4. HTPC

Happy I got this for a reasonable price with free gift.

I wish:
1. The remote could have been a bit better as far as the looks of it go, looks a little cheaper to me.
2. A separate USB for wifi antenna, a little difficult to plug in both the antenna and another external USB.

Thank you sir. Also, I can stream files, though not HD contents, only DVD rips from my laptop through the wifi router. It is really amazing!

Has anybody tried firmware upgrade?
I am still having old firmware (version 1.0.2) and want to upgrade.

Please share your experience.

What is latest stable firmware release you have tried?
Is the new firmware upgrade really useful?
Any special care to be taken while upgrading firmware?

Yes I have upgraded to Ver 2.1.3. But now looks like ver 2.2 is out. Just follow the simple steps listed on the xtreamer website. Yes the new update is useful.

1. Copy the firmware onto a USB drive. This should be the only file in the usb and there should not be any other folders. The file should be in the root directory.
2. Do it when there are no power outages. The unit must not be turned off during firware update. In my area there are power outages so I had to be careful during upgrade.
3. The upgrade will complete within 5-7 mins.

I was able to upgrade the firmware to ver 2.2. One the new improvements that i liked were
1. Output AAC/FLAC/OGG/WAV 5.1 PCM
2. Wireless network - PBS support.

But when I was trying to upgrade at first it failed. The Xtreamer was connected using HDMI cable to AVR. When I started upgrade the screen went blank and did not return to update screen. So I had to do emergency firmware upgrade first and then later upgrade to ver 2.2.
So as suggested on Xtreamer website use AV RCA cables during upgrade do not connect using HDMI cable. I connected Xtreamer directly to TV using RCA cables.

I also updated my xtreamer with ver 2.2, but thankfully did not have any HDMI handshaking issues. The Xtreamer was connected to AVR through HDMI, and the process took about 2-3 mins, but the previous version had the options "DTS/Dolby TrueHD 5.1" and now that is gone and I have the following DTS/PCM 2.1 and DTS/PCM 5.1 and the option you listed above. Anything wrong?

Did you get a chance to test any Dolby TrueHD Audio files ?. coz I have tried testing couple of them and I don't see Dolby TrueHD show up on AVR. But the clips that I have tried are of very short duration.
