Right now I am listening to ...

@ruenigma: Now that you're 'into' Chet.. :)

I also recommend Chester and Lester/ Guitar Monsters, two LPs now released on one CD. The first of the two is a collaboration with another guitar legend, Les Paul.

Hi will sure look for it on my next trip to a music store. Doen't look like its gonna be anytime soon, since we are about to welcome a fresh set of ears in our home, most probably day after. Have my fingers crossed.

Enigma is releasing a new album on 19th Sep, got two tracks MP3 :D of course for the time being.

If you have followed enigma, this one "'SEVEN LIVES MANY FACES" follows in the tradition of newer less darker avataar of Cretu in "A Posteriori", whereas the track with some spanish lyrics "La Puerta Del Cielo" reminds of the younger Cretu.

I had all but forgotten how he sounded. After a long long time yesterday and this morning, I listened to Van Morrison. Remembered how I used to like his bluesy voice.

And all the ho-hum about music in cars being illegal came to naught. Poor guy, the DC Traffic, has to eat his words.

I really must compliment you on your excellent taste in music - Traffic and now Neil Young's Harvest Moon. Also your knowledge of music.Makes me feel good to be part of this forum.

I second you on that. I know so few people here in Bombay with whom I can share my thoughts on music, that its nice to have people like Persiflage (and you) on the forum.

Amaseffer - Slaves for Life - 2008

That's a band from Israel playing "Symphonic-Progressive-Folk-Rock-Metal". This album is the first in a trilogy about the history of the people of Israel as portrayed in the Old Testament. Well, for people who are not interested in the story it self the band offers amazing music arrangements, very dynamic with a lot changes in beat and atmosphere. And the recordings are brilliant. Even for non-metal-heads; give it a try.

Any Kula Shaker fans out here?

Spent a lazy Sunday listening to the first two albums, 'K' and 'Peasants, Pigs and Astronauts'. Highly recommended if you like a bit of Raga Rock.

Rest of the playlist:

Relax with Mehdi Hassan
Begum Akhtar: AIR Sessions
The Pretenders: Greatest Hits
Sting: Live at the Perugia Jazz Festival
Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac: Best of

The last named covers Mac during their initial years, when they were amongst the finest purveyors of Brit Blues. 'Black Magic Woman', later a major hit for Santana, is here; so is the sublime instrumental 'Albatross'. If you think the Bluesbreakers or Paul Butterfield Blues Band are great, you've got to check out this compilation.

You might consider trying out Abida sings Amir Khusrau. I have the CD and just love it. There is also one where she sings Kabir (I am not perfectly sure, let me check and get back); I have a cassette. Also very nice.

Today I came back home aftar a long day at the office fighting Monday blues, training some nutheads on ESOA:rolleyes:, only to find a well packed courier in my mail box - The 2L Nordic Sound Sampler 2007 - All the way from Norway!

2L sampler CD 2007

Enjoy!

Kabir by Abida is inded one of her better renderings, and Gulzar's commentary is icing on the cake, it was Abida and to a large extent Pt. Kumar Gandharva, which drove me to read Kabir, else my generation would sure have lost out on the literary treasure vault.

You may also consider "Faiz by Abida", she sure does some justice to the intricately woven romantic verses of faiz. Don't mis ghalib by abida either, a very different and lively approach to ghalib as against the typically saddened mood created around the master wordsmith's verses.

E-SOA for dummies on a monday morning, god save you! :p

That black beauty is quite mesmerising aint it, the Nordic one. I am thankful to Kamalji for the tip off. :)

On 28th August we are blessed with an angel from above, a baby girl. Hence was missing for the past few days. I tried pacifying her with a few Loreena Mckennit and Enya tracks on my cell and whiola she's got some ears already. :)

Right now back home relaxing and playing faiz by abida, dedicating the befitting "Woh iski deed mein lakhon masarratein pinha" to the newborn.

Happy listening
Sarang

Congratulations, Sarang !!

01 to 10 is a wonderful age. You will constantly hit by their curiosity and persistent questions - why this, why that. If you patient, you will end up with some wonderful human beings on this planet.

May you and your family be happy always.

Cheers

Thanks buddies!!

Listening to "Bowers & Wilkins - Very Audiophile New Recordings" after a exciting and hectic day at the hospital.

Hey congrats rue bro. It's a wonderful event in your life, may I say from experience that music will be your best friend for the next few months - soothe you, elevate your mood and sometimes even keep you sane ;-)

The first song I ever played to my daughter was George Harrison's 'Red Lady Too', it's on the 'Wonderwall Music' album.

@persiflage: How can I forget that album, Harrison's first solo! Good suggestion there. Will surely play the track once she's home. (Both my wife n daughter will be with my in-laws for the next 2 months or so.)

I also love the Aerosmith track from Armageddon "I don't wanna miss a thing", with Liv Tyler (his daughter) in the movie the song looks like all written for her only.
