Finally... Got PJ560R

Hi All..


Just want to Thank you each one of your for providing inputsI finally purchased PJ560, and it was delivered last Saturday. It looks gr88.. and has extra speaker mounted on both the side with Woofer at the back. Price I paid was 39K inclusive of your EMI facilities. I havnt exchanged my OLD CRT as of now.

Set is quite reflective and add to that I have Big window exactly oppst the TV set but Honestly, its not bothering me Here are some of the things I have noticed so far..

1. Remote is simply amazing, all things are quite handy. You can simply pause a Picture if you like it.. It will not record or Resume from that though.
2. PQ is good but I do see dancing Pixels when I am very close to the Set, specially GREYs.
3. I watched Avtar and PQ was simply amazing. Sound is superb
4. When you play movie through USB, you can not change the ZOOM settings, only thing you can do is Simply select Full screen or original size.
5. You can still change the display settings which is good part, and can change the Sound mode.
6. INFINITE SOUND is GREYED out as of now.. dont know why? Awaiting LG tech for Wall mount and demo. So He may do it.
7. DISH TV log some time gets brighter and then bit light.. not sure if this is the LOGO or my SET creating issue.
8. Connected Laptop using VGA cable, and its simply amazing. This would help me till the time I buy any of Media player.

Can pixel dancing be issue because of the DTH content being stretched to full screen?? I hvnt had any chance of playng HD content as of now.

As of now all the settings are at 50, and all the advance settings as OFF.

LG has reduced price of this set, and has started offering Airtel DTH HD free.

6. INFINITE SOUND is GREYED out as of now.. dont know why? Awaiting LG tech for Wall mount and demo. So He may do it.

Its disabled if "Clear Voice II" is ON.

Is it same as PK550 owners described? For us the content (HD/SD) does not matter. It is observed when brightness is set a bit high where black is rendered as dark gray.
You can try with some HD clips from your laptop.You can download some small clips from net (50MB ~ 200 MB). Or play good quality SD in its actual size.

Hi..

I had service guy visit today at my place. Trust me he did not know naything at all.. It seems I was service persn n visited his place.. He was not agreeing that Star plus logo is bleeding and Grey and blacks are not showing properly when GAMMA is LOW, and Brigtness is above 50.

Whn I turn GAMMA Medium, its fine but then picture is kinda more hurting to eyes.

At end I asked him to go to EZ adjust mode with the Service remote, and we did Increase the Contras level from 128 to around 192. Its more dark it seem now, and blacks are shown properly.


I asked checked wth Divx options in tools, n other menu but could not find any setting related that.

I agree to the Bass issue, as its same for me.

Do you think the Firmware would be applicable to PJ series too?

DO you have that PUNE guys number?

At end Service tech told me if I come to know the settings that needs to be done, I can call him or email him n he will come n do that for me.

So let me know...

I am plng to change basic brightness settings from 128 to 192.. It may help show me correct white too....

so do you mean to say there is the dancing pixels issue in your set too....

And could you please tell me where in PUne did you get a quote of 57.4K for the PK550.....
i had read it some other thread posted by you....

Hi,

Its not dancing though. I can see only dancing resolution on Grey side, and Green pixls when I see black n too close or increase brighness..

I have raised complaint with LG. Here is number

I purchased 42PJ560R on 17th July, 2010. I logged a complaint about this Set few days back and had technician visit my place. However, it was of no use. Technician did not agree and did not know the advance settings. Only thing he did was Adjust the GAMMA to Medium which makes overall picture darker than normal view.
Here are some of the issues I am facing, which seems are reported for the PK series as well.
1. I see dancing colors, changing shades especially for Greys and Blacks. It is observed when brightness is set above 50.
2. Human face shows 2-3 shades which is annoying most of the time, irrespective of sharpness, and Color settings.
3. Black is shown as Dark Grey when GAMMA is LOW; if we make it Medium whole picture becomes dark which is annoying to eyes.
4. Does not matter if its Original size or 16:9.
5. SAB, SAHARA One, and Star plus logos are bleeding, RED color in the LOGO to be very specific.
6. Adjusting treble and bass has no effect on the sound whatsoever.
7. When I asked service tech to let me know what the firmware version is, he could not even find that.
8. Set which are sold in US/UK has extra calibration options which help resolve some of the issues I have mentioned with Green and Red above but not available in PJ560R as its RESTRICTED RELEASE.
9. Technician asked me to Keep contrast as high as 80, and said it will not AFFECT the set in initial period.
Does LG train Service technicians??
Technician who visited my place told me that this will happen, and cannot be rectified. When asked him Give me in writing, he did not agree.
I wanted to have July month release delivered at my Home, but it was MAY packed which is known to have some issues.
If this cannot be resolved ASAP, either I need Replacement or Money back. These is not mere 10K set, but have spent some good amount on this, and this is not at all expected from the company like LG.
If you plan to send Technician at my home, please make sure he knows IN n OUT of the PDP display, not a guy who repairs CRT, and LCDs.

I have finally escalated this to the Delhi Head and Area Service manager here.

What they told me is they are coming to see the issue whenever I am available along with the Area Service manager

I have seen another issue where I remove the plug of plasma, but it still stays in Standby mode with Red light on..

Mehul: I have noticed that last issue (standby light) on my 50PJ560 as well. However it does not seem to be a problem. The standby light goes off only after a couple of seconds. The overall picture quality is excellent though. I love it. Was trying out the blu ray rip (1080p) of BBC's Life (2009) - total 61GB collection with 10 episodes. My my ... lifelike images. Some of the close-ups with the tigers/cheetahs roaming and looking for prey, were mindblowing.

Hay thanks for the response.. I have not seen RED light going off..

Also, could you check with the RED color bleeding issue?
Do you have BANDING issue with any of the channel or inputs?
You are using DTH right?

No Mehul. Your high bill can't be due to the plasma. Read what Mannu has written regarding plasma tv power consumption in the other thread (PK550 Owners Thread). I don't find any of those defects that you mention. Yes I use Airtel HD. Or is it that I can't identify the defects? Not sure. But the channels look good to me. Nat Geo HD is pristine quality though there is no 5.1 sound. Getting only stereo signal from the box, as my receiver says so.

I had SR tech visit my place today along with some other higher ppl..

All thy confirmed is that there is issue with Power as it stays on... it goes off only after we give PULSE from Remote..

As far as other things are concerned... They did tell me that they are going to forward issue to the RnD ppl...

Check with the Moving RED...

Also, they update Firware to 3.27 but still the issue was same.

Can you also confirm the Packing? mine was 2nd May.

Finally they are going to Replace my UNIT with the new one.. and told me that they are forwarding request to the Technical department.

Wow a replacement of your PJ560? Well I could not find any such banding or moving red like you have mentioned. Looks fine to me till today. The power issue doesn't seem to really bother me, since even though the red standby light does not go off once you press the Power Off button on the remote, it DOES go off after a few moments.

Right.. and that is the BUG in system. Capacitor is not doing power drain. They told me they will rectify that issue in New set.

Lets see what happens.
Hows your Airtel DTH working? I am in dilemma if I should switch from Dish to Airtel..

Airtel DTH HD is nice and I am very happy with the picture quality of Nat Geo HD channel. The only thing that I am pissed off with, is that contrary to Airtel's advertisements all over the country, there is no 5.1 sound output from the HD box for the Nat Geo channel. My receiver shows only stereo. When I connect the same coaxial digital cable to my portable LG DVD player, it gives me superb DTS and DD 5.1 sound as per the disc played.

Hmm.. thts little OFF... I already have DISH DTH, so wanted to check with you if it makes sense for me to go with the Airtel HD DTH....

Not sure of the quality of other channels, and PQ change over HDMI.

does that make any difrnce from your previous DTH to HD DTH except Nat Geo?
