Finally... Got PJ560R

Even the SD channels are clear. HDMI does make some difference. I have SD DTH from Airtel in another room and I can definitely see the difference on the plasma in the hall. It does look better. Plus, the guy who came to install it, has taken the connection from the same dish, instead of installing one more dish for the hall connection. It works perfectly. I have 2 customer IDs though, one for the HD box and one for the SD connection.

Mehul, that's fine but if you're particular about more HD channels, and 5.1 sound from the HD channels, then maybe Tata Sky HD is better. It's been confirmed that there is 5.1 sound on Tata Sky in the HD channels.

How much Units more did it consume?

I did not analyze things properly. I got a microwave owen(~1000w) and TV at the same time and hence cannot pinpoint on exact measure.
But both combined I am seeing a spike of about 30 ~ 50 electrical units. At my place it is Rs. 3.5 per Unit and hence spike of about 105 ~ 175.
Note that PJ560 has 1027x768 pixels while PK550 has 1980x1080 i.e. PK has 13,51,968 pixels more. So power consumption must be more than PJ560.

In that case, I will have to let go off my DISH, and Free Airtel and spend money on Tata Sky.

Unit consumed were 466, where as I do not even have anything else like AC or Microwave.. .Not sure if its Meter error or something else.

Guys the resolution figures for the plasmas on the LG website are not 100% accurate. 1024x768 is for the 42 inch models while the HD ready models have 1365x768 resolution. The PK550 of course has a 1920x1080 resolution. And another thing: resolution is not everything. Pictures look fantastic even on the 1024x768 42PQ70 plasma at my parents' place which we bought last July.

Mehul, it's not really necessary to let go of your Airtel HD now. What I am doing, and what I would also suggest for you, is to pay the 750/- activation charge and recharge for 50 bucks or 100 bucks (at 16/- per month for Nat Geo HD) and enjoy the HD channel and others for the 75 days. I believe it's free for the 1st 75 days or something (2.5 months). Around the end of that period, you can take a call. It is possible that another 1 or 2 HD channels would have been added by then, and the 5.1 sound would have been enabled. If not, you can always go for Tata Sky.

I think even 42' plasma are HD Ready. and They are 1024X768. Also they support this resolution for PC connection. However, I could get as high as 1125X800 from my Laptop. if I select 1920X1080, screen becomes too small..

The first month after I got my LG 42PJ560R I got a spike of 400 Rs in my power bill. So 150 - 200 I feel is quite normal. I heard the plasma consumes more power than an average refridgerator.

Mehul, I too got my first bill and with a 50" Samsung C550 running for an average of 7 hrs/day, the difference is of 400 rupees. This includes usage of AVR and powered Sub for 40% of the time.

I got my Replacement Unit yesterday night.. and got it installed today mrng...

Seems improved.. but still have Power indicator issue and Red bleeding..

Hay new set seems to have Black border inside the normal frame which was not the case with old one. And Right side screen seems to be missing 1 line of Display. Left side seems to be fine and even.

Is this normal? or just with my set?

Well as update... for that Single line issue on Right side of my PJ560, LG is going to replace it one more time..

This would be the 3rd set now. They have to confirm the availability, and they will call me back on Wednesday.

They said.. Its manufacturing defect

Otherwise get the refund and call it a day..

I think this problem is basically with their Plasma lineup and not LCDs. Non-defective units work perfectly, as stated by most members here and elsewhere (amazon, AVS). Thats why I'm awaiting replacement for PK550 though they gave me the refund option. But it seems LG is giving some serious consideration to the complaints and fine tuning the production processes and hence thats why no stock. Shipments should resume by 1st week of Sept.
