My New Banana Plugs From Nakamichi

Thanks Seby for the info, The ones shown in the link i attached I got for 150/- so far so good, infact strangely found that the introduction of banana plugs have made a noticeable diff in bass getting warmer, slightly rounded/smoothened due to these. Strange occurance is it?

You mean the sound has taken on the shape of the Banana!!

Wonder what will happen with Pineapple plugs ... SQ will become edgy and thorny?

yea banana & pineapples it is GG with all the edgy & thorny stuff of pineapple, u will need the banana benefit for sure.

As some one has mentioned, MX online prices are on the higher side than their store prices.

I have heard factory terminated chord silver screen cables and they sound better than my unterminated SS cable.

Now I am also not sure if DIY termination will bring it to the same levels ... guess I need to try and decide.

Couldn't resist the temptation! . I just ordered a few banana, RCA and speaker binding posts from the Nakamichi site. Hope the delivery happens quickly. This order would have gone to MX, if they had a working on-line payment system.

The final quality will depend on the cable itself as well as the extent of connection. Multi-strand cables will definitely get you better sound vs. lesser strands.


Also, C type connectors provide better quality than normal ones (C Type Banana Plug)

If one is after very good quality banana plugs then the Eichmann or Furutech are very well known brands.

If you can figure our the difference between

Naked Wire to Banana Plug ( assuming banana plug plugs gooooood)

Naked Wire to Binding Post

Note : the Binding post and Banana plugs are gold plated ( unless otherwise some wise men say binding post is 24carat and banana plug may be 14carat and then there is a new warmth in the sound signature- after all caps and resistor in electronics do this job - in a macro sense)

Update:

I got my stuff delivered yesterday. Had to go to the postal customs office to clear the parcel. They charged me 30% duty on the invoice value.

I was told that if the invoice copy was available with the parcel , they would have cleared it without me going there.

Interestingly my earlier shipment for similar value was a TP20 amp, which was delivered without any hassle and no duty either. Cant be luck every time

These Nakamichi are available in Mumbai - Lamington road for Rs. 140 a pair and I didnt even bargain as I was in a hurry... I bought a couple of these to test out as they were inexpensive and they turned out to be pretty good... having said that I would still prefer a bare connection if done properly...

Gobble I didnt notice any gain or loss.. maybe because I had hooked onold 2.1 system just to test them out while I was waiting for my 5.1's to be delivered...

But yes Banana Plugs I personally feel are purely about convenience if you need to plug unplug a lot or have ur speakers in tight spots... but then thats only my personal perception... and yes the Nakamichi ones do look nice and are inexpensive.
