Specification states that it has a headphone out. This is generally 3.5mm jack. Kindly check at the back of your LCD. If you find a 3.5mm headphone out jack, all you need is a 3.5mm stereo to 3.5mm stereo wire. No need to have a converter.

@jatin: the mocha decoder looks very attractive. How to buy it from india? Have you bought anything from that seller? Is there any ebay.in link?

Yes, I have bought Topping TP20 Amp from this seller, If the total is below 10 K you will most probably skip the Customs.

Ask seller to ship it as lesser value and as gift / sample.

You will need a Credit card and a Paypal account for the purchase.

You won't get 5.1 output from it. For that you will need an AVR. You could also get 5.1 using this product: Digitalbay| HDMI| HD Media player| HDMI Splitter| Digtal Bay

Are you sure that optical from TV is 5.1 and not downmixed to stereo. In any case there is one to convert 5.1 optical to 5.1 Analog, Enjoy.

i have one more question, if i got the right answer so my search will be over here. I have samsung lcd LA40D551 which can play videos via USB HDD in all formats like avi, mkv, flv etc

my question is that can i get 5.1 channel output directly from lcd optical output if video file has 5.1 audio? I have downloaded so many blueray rip movies in very high quality that has 5.1 channel audio.

in the manual of the tv they mentioned "When the TV is displaying a DTV (air) signal, the TV will send out 5.1 channel sound to the receiver. When the source is a digital component such as a DVD and is connected to the TV via HDMI, only 2 channel sound will be heard from the receiver and not mentioned about USB HDD.

The product just converts digital coaxial signal to optical signal. It is not useful in your case.

Probably you should get 5.1 out by using the optical output. Please check your TV's audio settings.

hey friends,
I have a LG LCD TV and just got a philips 5.1 home theatre. but my tv supports optical digital audio output and my speakers are compatible only with stereo outputs. i managed to find and buy a cable from ebay with one end having a digital output and the other a stereo one. but the speakers still don't work. i want sound from both my speakers as well tv. please help me out.

Have you tried based on the suggestion given in above link??
Were you able to get 5.1 Dolby through Optical Out of TV? What model you have??

yes i got converter from ebay. its playing fine but could not get 5.1 channel from led tv....but sound quality is very good i am satisfied with it...

No will not work unless your speaker system has a coaxial digital input. Coaxial digital is not the same as analog L+R.

my friend its working perfectly....i have 5.1 channel creative speakers model i dont know. it has three nos 3.5 mm jack input. sound is coming from all speakers perfectly...

Do you find the SQ improvemnt noticeably? ie. digital o/p -via a converter as against a direct Head phone out from the LCD TV

Hello,

Even i was in similar boat some time ago. That was to decode audio from my Playon HD media player to my existing 5.1 speakers.

http://www.hifivision.com/media-streaming-players/16704-5-1-channel-analogue-audio-out-playon-hd-possible-2.html

On a visit to Bangkok 1.5 years ago i picked up a this 5.1 decoder for 2300 bahts

K.J. Computer : DTS Decoder Mocha D9980B (???????????) [Powered by Weloveshopping.com]

I am satisfied with this product's performance.Even my videocon d2h is hooked to this decoder and it is decoding dolby digital audio in HD channels with ease.

The important thing is that i am able to use my existing 5.1 speakers which does a good job.So i avoided buying an AVR and compatible speaker sets.. saved monies :)

Buy any of the products mentioned by our fellow members and you will be happy.

Thanks,
Dijeesh.
