The 2013 LED TV's are now being launched in India and this thread is the place to discuss and compare different brands and their LED TV lineup.

Good to have this thread. Have been looking at 55" LED LCDs since I want to buy one. Here's my mini review of the 2013 models that I have seen so far. I take an mkv of Samsara to play on whichever TV I want to test. So far I've checked it out on around 6 different sets and I have a good idea of the performance of various TVs. So far, I've seen the best performance on the 60" Samsung ES8000 (not a 2013 model). Haven't been able to check this on a Sony HX850 due to the lack of mkv support. I plan to take another reference movie for checking the same on various sets.

Picture settings were set to standard.

Samsung F6800

- Smooth playback (on single core processor Sammys I've seen judder)
- Image was not as bright as required
- Reds were getting blown out
- Noted strobing in a particular high contrast scene

2. Sony W800
- Color reproduction was better than the Sammy
- Too much reflection
- Blacks could be better, noted a tinge
- Detail was getting smeared

Compared the W800 to an HX850 using the Sony demo BD and played the Avengers clip.

The HX850 won this comparison hands down. The W800 made the video look like a soap opera - the frame rate was just not right. The clip definitely didn't have the 'cine' look on both the W800 and the HX850 but it looked much better on the older Sony.

There's no way I could even consider the W800. Will wait for the W900 or just see if I get the HX850 for a good price.

The Samsung F series I've seen in stores really impressed me. Viewing angles may not be the best but uniformity and clarity were higher than LG and Panasonic.

I saw the Sony W800 but could not demo in detail to form any opinion.

I suggest that everybody demos with SD and HD content. Do not go on the basis of HD content alone - there are still many channels on SD.

I have demoed W800, though not in full detail. It's a OK TV, not too great. Good PQ for regular HD. 3D is not great. I think the TV it replaces, i.e. HX750 is still a better option than this one.

Frankly speaking, I am yet to see a more than 40" full HD TV, which can beam really nice SD content. Whether it is Plasma or LED. As per my observation, the pixelisation is more evident in an large LED than a similar sized plasma and differs with different brand and input options.

But why feel sad when you are getting a free upgrade to 55", provided they honour the deal? :licklips:

Damn they have COD option as well.

Unfortunately, the companies also know that & fully exploit the situation!

Interestingly, Sony has jumped in the 42" screen club. Will have to see what Sammy does next year.

Actually even in USA cancellations are pretty common for pricing errors. Don't know about Europe though.

No. They are bound to honour prices. Once United Airlines announced a round-trip fare to India ex SFO for 169.99 - a mistake from 1699.99. Within minutes there was a flood and people booked like anything. United realized the mistake in some 30 mins and corrected the price. But by then some 2000 bookings were done which they had to honour. NO APOLOGETIC MESSAGE AND CANCELLATION.

I think it depends on the Site. Some honour pricing errors and some don't. I had bought quite a few products with pricing errors in US. Some were delivered and some cancelled.
