The 2013 LED TV discussion thread

I have bought The LG 47LM 6200 LED SMART 3D TV fm US FOR 899 us and 100 us misc exp , was it a good deal , HOW DOES IT FARE AGAINST THE SAMSUNG AND SONY.

whats your opinion about sony W800 vs samsung F6 series? both cost MRP 1.5 lakhs for 55 inch size.

I think you mean F6400 and the obvious W800. Both are good. I did a demo of them side by side and posted impressions on one of the W800 thread.

I felt W800 overblows colors a bit but in a nice way. It has good viewing angles. Not very deep blacks but better than LG. Mostly uniform screen. Misses out on shadow details. If watching DTH HD or bright bluray materials in a lit room then you'll be amazed by the PQ.

F6400 was a bit sharper but can't know outside of direct comparison. Not so great viewing angles. It was a bit more warm that many movie lovers will like.

Motion was similar.

Many will favour the W800 and definitely not a bad decision.

So , it looks like Sony W800a is better than Samsung F6400, Samsung India has also listed 60inch F6400, i think this should be available for around 2 lakhs or less:

I have the same set and I am happy with it.. Check for the calibration settings from avsforum...u will love it...

Sony 47W800a equivalent model from Samsung will be 46F6400, if possible then visit the nearest showrooms and give your feedback on these two sets.

Thanks any model in LG ?.I did demo on 47w800a really nice. How about LG 47LM6410 priced less than w800a and has nearly same specification?:)

Is LG's 2013 model's available in stores?

In Mumbai the LG models are available in most stores. Still not impressed by the PQ. They changed the looks but the PQ remains similar to last year's. Not great. Okay for regular SD and cable / DTH.

Specifications does not always translate into performance.

Planning to buy sony 47w800a or Lg equivalent in coming weeks...if any one from Chennai going to buy any led recently PM me..we can get good discount if we buy in group.. :)

Hi all any tv model without 3d / full HD / no smart / 47" or above.. my friend is looking for one

I think sony 46inch w700 is the best non 3d model currently do tell your freind to have a look as many here also think its better than w800

Hi everyone,
Today I got to demo both LG 42LA6190 and Sony KDL-42w800a.

I never expected such brightness from LG, but it was looking great.
Sony's PQ looks amazing.

In my personal opinion:

LG:
Good:
1.Awesome 3d effects (Played Avengers final scene).
2.2D to 3D was stunning too(Transformers 3 intro scene).
3.USB recording.

Bad:
PQ is good BUT:
Cricket was put on while I was demoing.
1. I noticed there was lot(noticeable) of blur(ghosting) effect while the camera was moving along the ground & while the players were chasing around.
2. The colors looked as if they were peeling out of their regions.

Sony:
Good:
1. Amazing PQ (No blur or color peeling as in LG set).
2. 3D is excellent (still felt LG was better).

Bad:
1. 2D to 3D was kind of bad.

My primary consideration has been Sony, but after looking at LG set in the store I almost changed my decision....but then, I caught ghosting effect pretty easily. That is no-go for me. Well all the above is in my own personal opinion.

Can anyone tell me what is the actual refresh rate of these sets?
Could the ghosting effect be due lower refresh rates?

Now I'm almost fixed my mind to get Sony. Do share your opinions on this, if you have got to demo these sets.

P.S Will there be a 42inch Sony w900 series model?
