The 2013 LED TV discussion thread

I am not saying one TV is better than the other. I haven't had a chance to look at them. It is quite possible that F6400 is better than W804A or vice versa. All I am saying that if one is spending money, spend it on the main function of the device, that is showing best quality picture.

If you want eastman colour choose Samsung F6400 which is brighter. If you want real colour choose sony 800a,900,950 models. If you want the most life like colour one should go for plasmas only.

Hi,

I wish to buy 55 inch LED. My requirements is good Picture quality. I dont require Wifi,3D etc which are all optional. I just need a good PQ TV. Not even bothered about sound as I have a Onkyo HT, XBox for wifi etc. My budget is 1 Lac to 1.3 lac. I have seen LG 55LM6700 for Rs 1,19,900 in reliance digital. I had seen last year model in LG (55 inch) for Rs99 K. Can any body suggest me a TV with that price band(slight deviation is okay) and good PQ.

Thanks,
Ramanan.S

With your budget you should look for sony46W950 which is superior picture quality.Usually superior pq models will have 3d, wifi and every all other added facilities.if you insists on 55 incher, you should raise ur budget.

Only last year's LED models of 55" wide are available at around 1 to 1.2 lacs. If you are ok, then you may scout for one. LG6700, Pana 55ET5D etc

Yes. model year is not the problem. Only thing I look for is 55", PQ. I'm not bothered about other features. How about the PQ of LG6700 and Pana55ET5d?

3D worth it in 32 ' / 42' TV ?

Hi guys,

Is paying a premium for a 3D enabled + WIFI tv ( Samsung F6400 / Sony W804) worth it compared to F6100 ( only 3D) or W674 ( only WIFI) ?

I am confused since am not sure how much use the 3D would be and whether the premium justified this..
I guess wifi is something that we use much more of wifi relatively ?

I am in Bkk and the price of F6400 40" is approx similar to Sony 42" W674.. so was wondering which one to go for.. considering I will be using it for atleast 5 years !!

Seek advise..

Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy an LG42LN5710. I was impressed with the features coming at the price of 60k. Any particular feedback about this model?
Any suggestions of models from Samsung or Sony?
I am looking for a 42 inch non-3D Smart TV with a built-in WiFi and good connectivity options with a smartphone, tab (Nexus 7) and PC.

THanks in advance for the help.

Thanks

I liked 55ET5D more than LG-LM6700. Another good thing with Pana is that they offers 3 years warranty. This shall cost you around 95K or less.

Agree with Manz.....55ET5 will be an excellent choice with 3year warranty and price of 95K.

Samsung 40f7000 gets a full 5 stars on whathifi latest review.
Good blacks and colours and good details earn it kudos.

pls suggest me samsung 32 inch f5000 or f5500 or sony w654a which one is best to buy
lot confusion pls help me very urgent

I want a 32" only...n my primary point is excellent PQ over everything else. Currently, I have a Philips 5609 32" tv whose PQ is just plain awesome. It's more than 3 yrs old now n it's panel has started showing defects, though negligible but still it has. Shadows like on all 4 corners n horizontal black shadowy lines n a shadowy mountain range like area. These show up in lighter backgrounds of yellow, blue n white nn doesn't show in darker colours.

Anyways, so before it completely goes kaput...would try to sell it as it is n go for a new one.

Now, I don't wanna spend on the frills. Meant great PQ n I also have ps3 hooked up...so occasional gaming n blue ray as well. But, DTH is SD n have no plans to go HD.

I have shortlisted the Sony 32w600a n sony 32r422. Now, there is considerable price difference in these two....so I wanna know is it truly worth it spending extra for the w series or the r series would also be a considerable upgrade from my Philips 5000 series LCD ?

would also take the extended 2 yr warranty with Sony which is fr approx 2k.
I m ok with 720p since I know that in 32" 1080p doesn't really make much difference.
This tv is not a long time investment, as I would upgrade to a 42", in Arnd 2 yrs frm now.

But, is the new x reality engine really that much better over the R series ?
Btw, I also have a Sony 32" bx300 n I hate the PQ. Are the new ones any better ?

But, I still wanna go fr Sony, I just don't trust Samsung tvs...n I don't know if they have extended warranty option.

Please guys, help me here, my last purchase was also based on the reviews I got here in Philips 5000 series LCD in 2010 n I couldn't be happier. Though I didn't expect the panel to start deteriorate in less than 4 yrs.

I have been going to different outlets and comparing Led's exhaustively mostly from Sam and sony.
and yesterday i shortlisted these and going to Buy XXXX (lol read till the end and you'll find out)
1. r422a - 30k
Specs say there is no picture processing engine ? i dont know what that means ?
2. EX330(2012 model) - bravia 3 engine - 30k
3. W600a - wxga, XREALITY PRO , internet - 38K
4. EX550(2012 model) - XREALITY, internet - 36.5K
5. SAMSUNG F5100 - Full HD, HYPERREAL ENGINE - 36.5k
6. W650a - Full HD, X-REALITY PRO, Internet - 42K
My analysis
R422, w600 & 650a have no difference. 650a being just a little brighter than R422.But comparing 650 and 600 there is absolutely no difference no matter what you play(HD or SD or bluray).

EX550 vs 600a - 550 was more bright.i was surprised since it is a 2012 model with X-REALITY engine and 600a comes with X-reality pro.I was wondering as to what justice did the "PRO" did to 600a ?

F5100 vs W650a - Now here the difference can be clearly seen in colors. 650a clearly had more natural colors.F5100 was good but skin colors did not felt as natural as of 650a.But you would only notice this difference if you compare side by side.Honestly its a trick that your mind plays lol.If you turn off either of them then it would be just as good as the other. The difference is not worth the price difference of 7K.To make things even i would say that F5100 had warmer colors and 650a had softer colors.

Ex330 vs R422a - ex330 seemed dull but crispier and sharp than 422a even though it has bravia 3 engine. But since they are the same price and R422 is newer model i would say go for R422a

So my verdict is that if you want Full HD only and want to spend not more than 36K then go for Samsung F5100.

If you want an internet TV + Full Hd - 650a

If you only want internet only and Full Hd does not matter and believe me for 32" it doesnt then go for - W600a

But if you are willing to settle for Hd ready cheap and almost equal in quality to 650a then go for R422a.It does have slightly less brightness than W600a.By slightly i mean less than pinch of salt lol.

Now between Ex550 and 600a i would prefer 600a because i really believe in sony and i feel that maybe Xreality pro is same as X reality and maybe Pro kicks in at specific scenes and lighting.Since price difference is only 1.5-2K or maybe even less you can consider 600a.

Overall W600a is best 32" HD Ready under 38K.
Samsung F5100 - best FullHD led under 36K.But for Full Hd you have to trade of softer colors of W600a.

R422a - best Hd ready Led for 29K.
Now this doesn't solve the question of whether difference is worth spending more. But i think it depends what our eyes like.If we are happy with warmer colors of sam F5100 then it really doesn't matter because wet Full HD.If we are happy with slightly less brightness of R422a ( almost unnoticeable if you compare them one at a time) than the w600a then we can buy R422a.Personally i dont see any reason to buy w650a.I did considered W600a but then i realized that i watch Tv mostly with light off so whatever slight difference R422 has in brightness would be compensated in the darkness of the room. Also i dont need internet too.So finally Im going for R422a.If not R422 then i would have gone for W600a but never for 650a as it is really not worth it.

Did you evaluate Samsung UA32F4100/UA32F4000 ? They are also HD Ready at around 30K. the only difference between them is F100 has 2 USB ports and F4000 has only one USB port & Rs1000 cheaper.

As you mentioned R422a/r402a do not have Bravia picture engine (only clear resolution enhancer ??)

Well, the earlier mid-low range Sony models are just plain awful...no offence meant. The BX or EX series are plain bogus....I am telling from experience. I have a 32" model from BX n my cousin has the EX which a wee bit better in terms of PQ.
I too followed the bad wagon n blindly went for a Sony n I regret it...n then made sure to research fully, especially on this forum n went in for a Philips 5000 series LCD way back in 2010 n it's PQ is way way better then at of these Sony BX or ex series. At that time it also supported most of the video formats thru USB unlike my shitty bx330.
Though the higher series where pretty decent...but my budget didn't allow me to go for higher end Sony or Samsung panels.
So if someone wants a Sony, I think he should not go for anything lower then a w600 which is also in my shortlisted tvs. The lower models with the Bravia 3 engine are jut not worth it...n those tvs also suck at supporting most of the video formats too.
Btw, all w6 series are Internet tvs...but only the Sony w670 has built in wifi n both w650 n w600 don't come with it.
The difference between w600 n w650 Is just the panel...HD ready vs FHD.

Honestly, if u haven't yet bought the tv...do look into the Panasonic 32E6d...brilliant tv n check out the reviews online...almost every review has great things to say about it n whathifi has given it 5/5 stars.
It's a fully loaded tv for the price of a mid range Sony..like w600. I have covered it in detail under my thread " Sony w600 vs panny e6d"....u can check it out n check out its online reviews too.

I am looking for a Full HD TV basic model as I have all external dongles for internet/home theater/ gaming etc. In this process I preferred Panasonic Plasma 50" but I have given up the idea on suggestions from friends about the generation of heat in the room during summer in particular. It may be a fact as Plasma 50" uses 300+watts of power almost 3 times of LCD.
Now I narrowed down to two LEDs
1.LG 47LN 5400 @ Rs.63,500/ and
2. Panasonic TH-L50B6D @Rs.70,000 (to be negotiated and expected around 65,000/).
It appears that the pic quality is almost same in both. Any suggestions please.
