The 2013 LED TV discussion thread

I am looking for a Full HD TV basic model as I have all external dongles for internet/home theater/ gaming etc. In this process I preferred Panasonic Plasma 50" but I have given up the idea on suggestions from friends about the generation of heat in the room during summer in particular. It may be a fact as Plasma 50" uses 300+watts of power almost 3 times of LCD.
Now I narrowed down to two LEDs
1.LG 47LN 5400 @ Rs.63,500/ and
2. Panasonic TH-L50B6D @Rs.70,000 (to be negotiated and expected around 65,000/).
It appears that the pic quality is almost same in both. Any suggestions please.

Your reasons for not going with plasma are all unfounded. Trust me. There are other reasons for not choosing plasma but definitely not heat and power usage. See my ST50 thread and go thru my posts.

Go for the Sony w650...brilliant tv n PQ comparable to sony's own top if the line w900 series. it's got rave reviews all over the net...for its deep black levels.
Though sammy 5500 is good too...but my suggestion would be 650a all the way.

You can also check the panasonic 42e6. It has very good reviews. Some say it is the best led tv from panasonic till date. Around 52-53k it seems.

thank you for the reply....
yeah.... i checked the panasonic TH-L42E6D...... in the panasonic store didn't get a chance to see it side by side with sony or sammy..........
it was good.....

but,,, I did not like the UI( when connected via USB)...
should I consider it a criteria for choosing a TV??

otherwise the TV was very good..........

and also another thing......
Refresh rate...: panasonic and samsung offer 100Hz, sony has 200Hz
can be believe this ... are these actual numbers.... or just some brand gimmicks

I think things like UI shouldn't be a factor while choosing a TV. As per the reviews the panasonic not only have excellent PQ but the out of the box settings in true cinema mode gives very accurate colors as well.
The motion blur is very subjective. I personally don't care about refresh rates because the motion blur doesn't bother me. So trust your eyes and see if it's important for you.

thank you for the input @josedandrew ...
but i think i'll buy either sony W650a or samsungF5500
i want lean towards sony.... but samsung F5500 has many features that sony doesn't..

given a choice which TV would you select among the 3....... ??

Yes, another brilliant tv..,I too am in a dillemma, whether to go for the sony 32w670(same as w650+inbuilt wifi) or panny 32E6d.
Two things in favour of panny are 3 yrs warranty n VFM factor.
BTW, if you are going to watch a lot of SD content, go for the Panasonic as its got better SD PQ as per reviews...but Sony has better black levels. So u decide...

FYI, don't go by this 100 /200 hz refresh rate...all 3 Samsung, Sony n Panasonic have a standard 50/60hz panel refresh rate. Neither one of em have true 100hz panel forget 200 hz.
That is jut backlight blink rate n some motion interpolation thingy with sammy n Sony...so all mkt gimmick...forget about it.

Is the motion blur going to affect if the viewing habit has lot of sports(football,f1 etc)

Apparently as someone mentioned earlier ... Every 42inch tv in this price range(55-60k) has the same 50/60 hz panel.......... Each brand gives it a fancy name that's all:rolleyes:

Yes motion blur will affect watching football, F1 or any sports or any fast moving scenes( FYI I watch a lot of football, F1' crick...... English movies......)
After a lot of time sent on demos......... I've to say the panasonic and Sony handles it well( Sony better than panny in this aspect)
:licklips:

I hope this answers your question..........
