How good are aiwa speakers?

You heard this?
He says it (including hifi deck) purchased for 20k around 20 years back. If calculate the price....

Aiwa system on the whole sounds nice, better than Sony IMO and vfm too. Aiwa was close to bankruptcy and Sony acquired Aiwa. I have used/heard 4 different types of Aiwa and I liked the speakers of these models.

The speakers you have shown looks like it's from a basic model. If you are getting it for a very low price, go for it (I would pass).

Calculate the price? On consumer equipment twenty years old? Zero. Hope he is paying your expenses to take them away.
No man. I just tried to guess the value of the product with that. 20k rupees before 20 yrs will easily equate to at least 2 lacks now. So if aiwa can sell in that price 20 yrs back, then it must be a value product, isn't? because noone buys junk for 2 lacks.
I have this AIWA system which I bought in 1999. Sound is good but not exceptional. I am not using it for last few years. Cassette player had some problem but (I think) 3 CD changer still works fine. Last I tried a couple of years ago with input from laptop and it sounded as good as new. 
Never thought people can sell these very old system/speakers without any premium brand image attached.
One more thing about my AIWA model is, it has separate input for low and high frequency speakers. Means 2 pairs of wire from each speaker go in the system.

Edit: Bought it on 21-Nov-1999 for Rs.25500 with free 20 Video CDs and 30 Audio CDs.

The price is cheap. The question is whether take it or not. He's telling good about speakers only, not about deck. He used it with kenwood amp.

Misunderstanding. But, if the owner is asking money for these, I still say that they are not worth money!
Your pricing model is not right. In hifi, let alone consumer sounds, we get vastly more for our money now than we did then, so we cannot apply an inflationary index to the price, we can only see how much similar kit costs now.
Otherwise, I'd say that Aiwa was good at doing what they did. My top-end Aiwa "walkman" was better than the Sony I replaced it with after its sad loss.

I have the same speakers ...Nothing great ....I too bought in 97 ..The bass is nothing to write about ...Also, as said, there are 2 pairs of wires ...One for speaker part and the other is for surround driver which is inbuilt ...
+1 to Nick. It is not the correct way to ascertain the price esp. for electronics, that too from the 90s or even early 2000s.
Electronics were exorbitantly expensive in the 90s, at least in India. Parents bought a VCR for about 20K in 1989. That was 25 years ago. I cannot, in my remotest dreams think of selling it for money. I will be lucky if it is 'given away' to someone who uses it personally.
Also, in the last 10 years, the prices of electronics have fallen sharply. Be it speakers, mobile phones, consumer electronics or anything like that. In fact, my younger cousins laugh at my 'obsolete' Nokia phone that I bought for 12K a few years ago. They happily (& supremely) flash their 6-8K Galaxy phones and they are actually superior. (I am not an android guy anyway). Same is true for entry level bikes and cars too.
I will deduce that average consumer level items cannot be priced by taking the inflation as the benchmark; else I am willing to 'sell' you my VCR along with my Nokia!

Aiwa was a company with a genuine Japanese DNA. I agree that Aiwa systems usually sounded better than Sony and other similar ones. The Aiwa that were imported by Baron electronics in 1990s (and became popular in India) were a pale shadow of the true Aiwa class. Yet, Aiwa systems were nice sounding (less distortion, better imaging) compared to other comparable brand.
About the speakers in question I wouldn't give it much value without listening to it. It can't be good just because it has the Aiwa tag. Aiwa had products at different price points and their quality were different.

The system in the first link I posted was bought from Saudi and a made in japan system. The cassette deck was dead first and then the cd changer but the system lasted quite long. Sold the speakers via olx. The amp board is still with me (took the whole system apart and sold the cabinet). 3600watts pmpo
My friend had the system shown in second link and he bought it along with some 50+ cds as gift. IIRC, it was worth 50k+ at that time. 4000+watts (4500watts?). He scrapped it long time ago and bought cambridge audio setup.
Both of the deck had this breath 'shaking' bass..good times those were.
All the Aiwa systems I came across had two amp section (low and high)

One word IMHO Impulse Buying, Even i use to roam around for Speakers which come with the Music System of Sony JVC technics Panasonic,Aiwa ,Akai etc.
After Am into the Forum Gained a Knowledge "Costly cannot be always of good Quality". Some Models of Vintage could be grabbed On their condition and robustness,Performance only And not with the Prize Tag.
So what is the Prize he Looking for But more than 1K cannot be worthy IMHO.

How much should I ask for my pair of excellent condition speakers ?
I had a Aiwa NSX-520 2Ch with front surround speaker system and NSX-T9 with Bi-amp & bi-wring speaker system. In comparison -T9 was a better sounding system and real VFM in compare to Sony's High( PMPO) system.
..Aiwa did made great mini hi-fis....but the tiger went silent after the acquisition by Sony in 02 ....As for the speakers I don't find it worth going for.

)I was wondering... bi-amped? crossover units in the main body? But doe this two-amp, two-wire set up mean it couldn't be easily used with any other system.
The story of all those single-unit music machine is death bit by bit --- which is why even those not particularly seeking hifi were always better off buying even low-end separates.
Death bit by bit: I'm guessing that is why the speakers are available.
I have a feeling that this one can be great vintage speakers as the owner says the CD deck is crap, only the speakers worth the money paid. Even when it was new. And this is Japan make.
Going for it. Will get it tomorrow. Price is what I decide, as he want to get rid of this. He's just removing clutter as he doesn't listen to music.
And I dont mind to be a garbage collector for vintage crush.
