2025 mein SUB kuch badlega

Getting audio right for a music lover is extremely difficult which could be much easier for an audiophile. Situation becomes more difficult when you have raised in an environment where live vocals and music instruments were regular occurrences. All your remembrances become your expectations from what you want to listen from your audio rig.

If the intent is to get natural sound, Prem’s new audio rig is an epitome of the typical exemplar of neutral audio. And I have had the heavenly experience at Mumbai with two other audio and music connoisseurs.

Soundstage ensures every instrument has the room, with right bass response, both in terms of quantity and quality and sounds captivatingly big however mids and highs don't suffer because of that. MJ Acoustics Ref 200 Sub is just rightly synched Axiom 80 in the Goodman designed cabinet with the ARU speaker pair and adding more definition to what it’s delivering in solo capacity. Thoress F2A11 kicks everything in tune and also looks so gorgeous. The songsmith in this audio rig is EMT 930 TT in shock absorber frame with 929 tonearm, 139 tube phono and TSD 15 cart..lovely set up indeed.

Pyar Ka Mausam ( Angel press) is a typical average recording and phew! It’s so lovely here.. Good recordings (Gulzar Jagjit Chitra, Dire Straits, Parineeta to name a few) are just smashing. Satte Pe Satta song was on repeat mode for certain adjustments with speaker positioning. Prem has always been a wonderful host and almost playing a role of DJ on our varied requests. Long session and I’m back in town.. with refrains Na Ja o Mere Humdum by Lata Mangeshkar.

Looking forward to more such soiree …. Some pics..

It was lovely having Souravin, Satyaki and Prakritish over.

Thanks Souravin for a lovely write up. The passion you exude when listening to a RD track is unbelievable. Keep up this passion.

Satyaki, Arj, Dr Bass and fiftyfifty have been a part of this system right from the inception. Thank you guys for all your inputs.

It’s Satyaki. Not Satyajit. My bad. Auto correct :)

Satyaki, my apologies

Such a beautiful articulation of our listening experience at Prem's place last week. As @souravin stated, it's one of the most natural and musical sounding setup that you would ever come across. Prior to the arrival of Prakrtish and Sourav, me and Prem did some measurement of the low frequency extension of the Axiom drivers, and it measured beautifully till 30 Hz. On its own the Axioms do excellent bass, the sub adds just a touch of solidity to the low frequency foundation and creates a bigger sound. With Prem's masterful calibration of the sub, it integrates seamlessly with the main speakers without affecting the speed, dynamics and mid range magic of the Axioms.

I do know how difficult it is to get a sub right
There are so many dimensions like, position in a room, crossover, phase, volume and they are all interrelated
Getting it right with only one sub is truly an art and the fact prem has got it right gives one hope
But it also involves choosing the right sub and MJ seems to be a great option to add to ones choice
