Dear Experts,

I am planning to buy new TV.

3D Plasma/3D LCD /3D LED.

90% viewing is DISH TV truHD channel and 10% blu-ray 1080 movies.

I have 3 and 6 year daughter any problem to their eyes by watching 3D TV.

Thanks in Adbance.

i would not prefer 3d tv, would suggest go for 2d option only, reason after certain period of time you feed pain in your head watching 3d content, else choice is yours.

Depends on your budget. Most good TVs - meaning costlier ones - have 3D by default. So you cannot escape it. You can always ignore it.

But trust me - I got kids of similar age and 3d is fun sometimes.

the Panasonic UT series and Samsung E550 are good options which are not very costly.

If you have the budget - you can always upgrade to the ST series.

Hope this helps!

There are plenty of threads on this topic..just search the forum

Panasonic ST50 - excellent
Panasonic UT50 - very good
Panasonic XT50 - good

depending on budget, you can go for either one of the above tv's.
all the best

And of course there exists the GT50 that goes a notch above ST50.

Thanks for prompt reply..

Need your suggestion.

1 .If we watch only Dishtv truHD channels on Panasonic 3D plasma there will be any effect on my kids eyes.

I read somewhere 3D tv is not good for upto 10 yr children.

2. At what height 3D TV should be fixed on wall if the lengh of the Hall is 18 Feet

3. What is Active and Passive 3D. Does beneath plasma model support Passive 3D.

Panasonic ST50 - excellent
Panasonic UT50 - very good
Panasonic XT50 - good

Thanks

1. Any 3D TV is also a 2D TV with capability of 3D as well. So you casn safely watch DishTV truHD (or for that matter any DTH service) on Panasonic 3D TV (or far that matter any 3d enabled TV).

Long hours on TV is not good for children. 3D is even worse.

2. No matter the viewing distance, while watching TV your neck should not be cramped. You should be watching TV with the head in horizontal position - but a slightly downward angle to horizontal is also OK. What must not happen is that you are looking upward and head is bent back while watching. Considering this, it is best that the your eye level is a little above the horizontal center of the TV. Have the following as a reference sample:

- your couch is in front of TV at a distance of 10 ft.
- TV's is 42" diag and height is 24"
- your eye level from floor is 40"

In this case your should leave a clear 24" to 28" at the bottom of the TV. This is assuming a complete upright sitting. On the other hand most sofa are reclined behind slightly. Assuming a 5 to 7 backward recline, your viewing angle is raised and then the TV can be raised accordingly.

3. Google all about active and passive 3D. Too elaborate to explain here. All Panasonic plasmas work on active 3D technology.

p/s. If you are buying TV for 3D, then 50" is recommended.

20M is for 2010 series of plasmas and 30M is for 2011 series.. where did you get these quotes for? Have you decided between LED/Plasma (Read other threads) and budget?

The "M" at the end stands for "Middle East" models. In India, the equivalent letter is "D".

TH-P50VT20M -- KD.399 X 190 = Rs.75,810 - EXCELLENT 2010

The 50 series are the current 2012 models. However the earlier models are also excellent and if available they might be a good deal.

2012 models
Panasonic VT50
Panasonic GT50
Panasonic ST50
Panasonic UT50
Panasonic XT50
Panasonic X50

I think this price is very attractive in the sense that a full HD 3D 50 inch plasma at less than 40K, if it is a boxed one. But the prices are from Kuwait( I presume) and the OP intents to bring it back to India, then transportation will be an issue.

Hi aakashr,
