46/47" HDTV to buy this Diwali, which one?

Any reason that you're not looking at the EX710 or ever the EX700 from Sony?

I think you can get the 55EX710 for between 1.40L to 1.45L in Mumbai.

Trouble is, I've spent on something else. And my budget is a max of 1L now. This is stretching it, I'd prefer to spend as less as possible, but want a 47" at least...

first post,
came to this site to find suggestions to buy 47 incher, can we try to get good discount for group buying, let me know, am in

Guys,
Have finally decided on the LG 47LD650. Will post the exact price later, but wanted to know if there's any way to check the usage on this model. Like the service menu code, or some other trick, I've seen this for a few models on this forum...

Congrats man.. I am following your thread silently as I would be making this decision soon...

Please share price and your experience with TV esp. SD and HD content separately.

Vandal, please post your experiences and the reason for going this model and the price too, since am also thinking about 47ld650

Sure will guys, also with some pics. But I wanna know about the service menu. And how to check the no of hours. The LG guy has guaranteed no showroom piece, says I can check and return if it is so, but still, am wary...

I have already mentioned this on another thread, the Sony EX series seem to have a 14:9 display!?

I saw a bit of a live Football match in the LG showroom, to check SD viewing and was not very happy with the reaction times on the LG sets. Ofcourse, the pic quality suffers from sharing a common DTH signal. The HD pictures looked good though.

I 'll settle for LED any day the samsung c6900 Led ,is it local dimming or side lit? LEDs don't have bulbs so they generate very little heat, somewhere in the forum one said all tvs generate heat which can shorten its life span. does anyone with LED TV confirm whether they stay cool or not?

NOPE,it does have a 16:9 screen.

@jbgude - Dude, I don't think 14:9 is even an aspect ratio...so u gotta be mistaken.
@saurabh459 - How long do you want your TV to last? Remember, your grandchildren will probably want to upgrade...

Yep, I thought so too, but it is on their Web Site : their other series mention the usual 16:9
I happened to purchase a Sony 32 LCD in Zurich around 2004, when I for the frst time, came across this 14:9 screen choice in the TV display settings ! The dealer there( MediaMarkt) could not help me.....

I got my 47LD650 delivered today, buy not sure if it is a brand new piece! Here are a few signs that makes me think. Any help is appreciated:

1. The transparent 'peel of' sheet was missing on the LCD screen. Only the edges were covered in plastic. The packing was also a bit clumsy, not the clean factory packing expected.
2. The thermocol parts were dusty.
3. The mfg. date on the back of the TV was 10th Aug where as on the box was mentioned 20th Aug. The serial# were matching.
4. The backside of the panel had some concentric dust marks. Though I checked the vent which were clean.

Its apparent that packing must have been opened before, but not sure if it is a demo piece. Any way to check if the usage hours?

Also has anyone else noticed that the picture start to fade when its looked at about a 40-50 degree angle and the LCD brightness is uneven especially when nothing is playing and one looks at the black screen during menu operation.

Can we get some comments from current owners?

Thanks

Ofcourse the dealer insisted its not a display piece

Hmm, what happens to the rest of the budget? Anything interesting? The LD650 is not the best you can get southwards of 100K. If you are going to live with LD650 then an EX500 is much better in all respects. I've demo'd and tweaked an LG and it's pretty sad compared to the Sony. The only bad is Sony's non-availability in 46".

How to make these Samsung Internet ready TVs wifi ready ?
Can simply plugging in a USB wifi dongles to the USB ports work ?
Or Do we need any Samsung proprietary Wifi dongle ?
Or is it not even possible ?
Samsung owners do reply.

I've also booked 47LD650 model in Pune for 74K(with BR player) but next day dealer informed me that is is out of stock not just with dealer with LG dont have in stock.
Now dealer is not able go give any timeline for the delivery as it all depends on LG now. I'm thinking to cancel my booking but dont know which model to take now. Earlier I was thinking abt Plasma PK550 but my problem is that a window is just opposit of wall so in day time whenver I need to watch tv I suppose to put the curtons on window which make my living room dark. This is the only reason I choosed LD650 as it got Mat screen. Now again I'm back to square. Guys any other model you can suggest My max budget is 75K(with BR player) or 70k WIthout BR Player.

You can go for Samsung 46c550 or 46c530 at around 70-72k without bd player. The lowest quotes for these here in Delhi I have are :-
46c550 - 70k
46c530 - 68k
Airtel HD DTH free with both.

Mailalok, the LD650 was available at Vijay Sales yesterday, but they wanted 79 K for it. The 74k offer you got seems very good!

There seems to be a rash of new companies offering (LCD) LED models suddenly in the market at very attractive rates :sadly the salesmen have no idea about the sets and specifications, nor any manuals. For e.g:
HAIER 55 @1.15
Lloyd 46 @ 88K ( apparently from the Fedders LLoyd AC people)
Would be great to know what panels / circuits they are importing/ marketing.

I would expect a sharp drop in prices post Diwali for LED/ Plasma, as certainly these prices would sway the less particular people looking out for a "big size" TV- as I was witness to yesterday, when a couple of cutomers grabbed the Lloyd TV set purely on the price with the "Latest LED" Tag by the salesman.
