55" TV from Sony, LG, Samsung

Thatz roughly 30K difference in the pricing amongst retailers..

1. Ok..Expected that TV will be equipped..
2 Co-axail will work with AVR.. ARC is function of HDMI...

Since he offered 10K lower with me just asking once, I am wondering if I can further bargain it to 20K. And maybe push to even 25K to even 30K (Wishful thinking?).

Any idea how to check usage hours on this one?

Am not very sire if we have Panasonic owners thread in our forum, try to take inputs/posts from owners who have checked the usage hours...

Start negotiating after you have checked the usage hours of the TV.. That way they will oblige to a fair amount...

Try your best negotiating, whatever you save negotiating, you could spend that for buying extended warranty from the company..

Yea, I intend to get the extended warranty. Cant risk on panel going dead in 1 year.

Is it a good idea to go for used display pieces?

Yes.. Nothing wrong.. Actually you benefit from reduced price....

My Sony TV was a display piece, got a good deal, so went for it...

I had another demo. Played 2-4 files. One a basketball game.
Did not find the quality good enough. There is some amount of noticeable motion blur in some scenes.
Also had a look at Samsung 55J5300. Similar issues. But this one has better blacks.

At home, I have a panny 50V20D connected to PC and it plays stuff smoothly and the quality is better too. I feel this 4 year old panny is of much better quality.

Demoing the LCD, I played videos from a pen drive, not sure if that makes a difference?

Checked out some more TV's.
Found the 55W800C from Sony to be pretty good. No motion blur. Blacks are pretty good. Screen is not very bright.
I don't think I will go for a panel with low refresh rate. I was easily able to notice the artifacts on the 60" panel.

Price is 1.2L + 12.5K (2 Year Warranty).

This is a well rated model , good picture quality. I have last year's model the w800b , and im very happy with it. I think this would be a good choice, a bit pricey but that cant be helped i guess

I was wondering If I could get the last years model. Searched around but no luck. Haven't tried in local shops yet.
W800b has good ratings from what I read.

There is an offer going on at Sony. Below are the model and their prices after the offer.

KDL-49X8500C - MRP: 1,64,900/- Offer Price: 149,900/-

KDL-50W950C - MRP: 1,32,900/- Offer Price: 1,29,900/-

KDL-55W800C - MRP: 1,54,900/- Offer Price: 1,39,900/-

Over and above the offer price they would exchange your old tv. They offered the highest for my 5 yr old 32" Sony LCD tv compared to what Samsung and LG offered.

The KDL 55W800C is being sold @ 1.2L all over Bangalore including Sony showrooms. So why would you want to pay that much more? ;):D

So did you finalize on 55" TV? I too was looking to pick up one and had similar requirements (no 3D/4K + connected to HTPC)

Did you see Panasonic TH-55C300DX in action? If yes, what were your initial impressions?

I haven't purchased yet. Have decided on the 50/55 W800D model. It has better refresh rate than the panny, which is why i decided to drop the panny.

However the price difference between 50 n 55 is quite big. While i was specially looking for 55 the difference is 85K n 120K

I don't think i have any with that.
Most of my stuff is H264 and some mp4.

I never use the usb, always use pc and hdmi to tv. So i don't have to worry about formats. I let vlc or mpc-be worry about that.
