A Hotter Future Is Certain, but How Hot Is Up to Us.

I am aware that his is a serious issue - But here is what comes to my mind . With more and more people using AC to beat the heat , consumption of power has increased , but power companies are not able to keep up pace , resulting in overload which is bad for our AV gear - especially amplifiers , I am experiencing this in our building .

Yes, climate change includes more extreme weather leading to increased power consumption for heating in winter and cooling in summer.. sadly a significant portion of power generation is from burning coal.

The sad part is, the authorities are very proactive in trimming branches or chopping trees thoughtlessly where it is not really required resulting in less shade from the sun and more heat. There is more concrete and less trees now. Not sure if they are aware of the repercussions with less greenery.

It seems to be a thoughtless exercise and wastage of resources instead of putting them for maintenance of good roads and footpaths.

The bottom line is we can still do something about the human made contributors to climate change.
It does require BIG sacrifices and changes in our lifestyles and aspirations.

But everyone needs to discuss these.

There are some encouraging signs. I see hope in the younger generations’ disinterest in Diwali fireworks even if our generation still finds ways to justify them.
Adoption of EVs is another even if it’s a smaller proportion who do it out of concern for the environment.

For every diwali firework reduction there is a terrorist bombing/war as well as AI server farms which will only go up. In fact many have reclassified Nuclear power as Sustainable fuels so wonder where all of this ends up.
So we might end up blowing/poisoning the world even before climate change get a chance to do its thingie

And the jury is still out on EVs..eg the environment cost of mining for battery components and its scalability. Additionally power generation itself is one of the major contributing causes of increase in emissions

The problem is definitely there but the true solutions may take time

Time is the luxury we don’t have.
It’s a complex problem that can not be fixed by simplistic solutions.
Actively wars going on in several locations around the globe probably make the occasional terrorist bomb tiny by comparison. In any case driving vehicles into crowds seems to have become the preferred method in the recent years over bombs for terrorists.
But the elephants in the room that we prefer to ignore is more about our consumption habits, petrochemicals product use (vehicular fuels, plastic waste generation and energy consumption)
The debate over claims of nuclear fuel as a safer option for electricity generation over coal powered plants is definitely dubious in my mind. But many countries are making determined investments in solar energy generation and carbon neutral lifestyles.
Thankfully no one seems to be pushing for mega dam projects for electricity generation much anymore.
The cost of messing with nature is high

Add to that food and clothes . Amount of food eaten beyond whats needed and wasted is again a significant contributer
