A surprising discovery

What do you see on AVR's panel? That would indicate bitrate and codec for input signal.

Well AVR is old & I have connected with 5.1 analoge out(D2X)to 5.1 AVR in.So I was not sure if HTPC can process the HD-audio perfectly & AVR doing only amplification.

Today I played Kingkong BD-iso & played without hitch.Earlier whenever I tried it used to hang.It can be new ATI drivers(11.2)& new vlc 1.1.8.It played sound ,but I am sure it wasnt Dts-HD as when I tried all audio languages,one of them was not recognised(mute).It also played directors cut same time(without audio unless I select language).So now its double hit.

UPDATE on MPHC-

I can get full HD-audio processed with MPHC.I tried PDVD10 which used to downscale DTs-HD as 16bit(original 24bit)

Now in MPHC,I checked input which is 1536kpbs(DTS-HD confirmed from filter & already posted).Output is 24bit which you can see at bottom of MPHC on ffdshow(Rt.side).With regular DD,it shows 448kpbs.
Hardware acceleration is on as you can see DXVA at bottom of MPHC(Lt.side).



I hope this Dts-HD is not downscaled as Dts(sd),I dont think so as D2X is capable of handling 192/24bit audio.

Now I can get 24bit DTS-HD audio out from PDVD10.The method of playing a moview(BD)is different-



1.I changed windows output setting as 24bit(DVD Q) from playback device.
2.Instead of playing Bluray movie directly,I went to "STEAM"folder, selected the video file & played in PDVD10.Now audio is not forced to 16bit due to PAP(Protected Audio Path copy protection is bypassed I think).

So now 24bit output is gettable & HTPC can be a Home Cinema preamp/processor.

Today I ripped LOTRG BD as main movie with only Dts-HD audio(no regular Dts).
I confirmed it with PDVD10-



Then I cld play the same in vlc with audio(video is not captured,but its playing-



I cld get 5.1 audio.Now does it confirm vlc can play DTS-HD file?
I can hear that PDVD audio is sharper than vlc.
But MPCHc cldnt decode audio,only video is played.
