Acer H5370BD - Impressions

Hi Spiro,

thank you very much for replying,

Actually my question is different. I am askinh whether, the sbs movie look like side by side without glasses and will have 3d effect if we use the glasses. or it will look like blurry as we see in theater.

When you activate SBS in PJ, the image should extend to fill the screen as if in 2D, but with a slight blurring. If you see the image as two split screens even after selecting SBS in PJ, then something is wrong.

So do the HSBS files need a 3d player to play 3d?

No, any player can be used for SBS 3D. I'm using HTPC. It is the PJ that does the conversion. You can try a dth video, and it should appear as distorted on selecting SBS 3D.

Try the following SBS image from a player. On selecting SBS it should appear as a single image in full screen.

Dear Kaptan,

First of all apologies for not being able to share the pj configuration at my end, have not been able to set it up and watch any movies lately.

For 3D, if you are seeing picture side by side and not in a blurred form, follow the steps indicated below.

Baijuxavior has already given the details for 3D, I am just indicating below the steps for 5370

If you are getting a side by side image in your pj's output then your 3D format is not selected correctly.

Follow these steps:

1. Switch the 3D mode on.
2. In the same menu select 3D mode or format, do not recollect the option. It should be auto by default. Change it to Half Side by Side. Press the > button on remote to select this format. Selection is not by Ok or center button, i too faced this confusion.
3. You should now get an overlapped image as an output from the projector.
4. Power on your glasses and wear them. If any distortion try changing the left right sync using a button on the glasses. Atleast the ones I have support this button so hope 3D corp should too.

Thanks Anand and Baiju,

Yes I have been making the same mistake of pressing the ok button, Now I have tried playing a hsbs file and pressed > got the single image blurry. So this means the 3d is working fine:yahoo:. I have to fetch for a 3d glasses now.

I am looking towards the options from amazon.in. DO the samsung 3d active shutter glasses work with this projector?

ishopinternational is having a special promo of 25% off for shipping, if you cannot find the glasses in India, a good time to get it because of labor day promotion.

Koushik, The reflection is there only for bright scenes but not to the extend that it annoys the eye, maybe the dark red shade helped...

If we use a screen, can this be sorted, will the screen absorb the light and doesn't throw it back? Is this one advantage of having a screen?

Prem,

IMO, The reflection on side walls primarly due to 'Asian Royale' which tend to give more reflection on side angles. Even you hangup a screen, the side wall reflection can be reduced only if you use matt finish such as 'Asian Premier Emulsion' which will diffuse more instead of reflect. IMO, I will not recomend 'Royale' in HT room.

Thanks,
Swamy
