Acer H5370BD - Impressions

Guys,

On the Sainsonic website there are 2 variety of 3D glasses.

One is with a rechargeable battery and the other is with a replaceable CR2032 battery.

Which is better in terms of battery performance.

note : the rechargeable one is 30$ lesser (for a pack of 4 glasses) than the CR2032 one.

@ All - I am planning to go for a UPS for this projector, I remember FMs purchasing 1KVA UPS for this PJ... I went to a shop today and he said that the inverter cost 5.5K and I have to purchase the battery separately for 14K.. I am sure he was trying to fleece me... I am planning to get a normal desktop UPS to go with this PJ... Will this help ?

Fellow FMs kindly respond.

Invertor and pc ups are two different stories. Pc ups can be anythinf from 7-11k including everything.

Invertor will have 2 units.. battery + Invertor 1000va cost what he gave is correct. . Howeverr for battery 14k seems higher. Again battery has 2 types standard n tubular. Tubular being better n expensive. 150ah tubular should cost you around 11k so 14 k is higher...

Ups onlonly for pj however Invertor is used for power backup for small homes..

thx ironhorse, I understand that difference, I just wanted to know if ppl in the forum are using a UPS to ensure safety of the PJ or using an inverter. I have an inverter connected in my house. But thats not the primary source of power for my PJ. Hence the question. I am sure a UPS will do the needful just wanted to be sure.

I am running my pj off a 1000va invertor which poweres my pc and other low wattage electricals in my home

@tintin2k2 - what is the power of your inverter? I wanted to check whether 800VA will support the PJ

I have used it with 800 VA inverter and it works without any problem.... even during the switch over of power it worked flawlessly...though I feel UPS will be safer than inverter

When i received my PJ, there was some problem in the supply of electricity. I waited for an hour but couldn't wait more and tried with inverter after switching off all other lights and it worked.

P.S. I did not use it for extended period hence can't comment on long run.

hi all,

i need your advice.

I see amazon is not shipping now the acer 5370bd ,plus the prices have increased from 405 -->467.
But they have now started global shipping for acer 5380BD and it costs 549 $.

Has anyone bought 5380 and can give his opinion?

Thanks @Vinay2013, that cleared some doubt as well. Are you using your inverter in UPS mode or normal mode? Will the switch over cause any bulb failure during a powercut, if it is in normal mode and not in UPS mode?

From specs, it is similar except additional 500 lumen + a contrast ratio of 17,000:1 instead of 12,000:1. The product should be good, but in my opinion, compared to prices of 5370BD which was available for 399$, this is way too much.

My inverter is 7 years old Sukam sine wave and I am not aware of UPS mode feature in this, so I presume it is working in normal mode. i have not encountered any bulb failure so far during a power cut but as I said I did not use it for longer hours.

Edit: Just checked the back side of inverter and it has a switch for UPS mode but it was set on normal mode. What is the difference in UPS vs. Normal mode?

I guess the best option is to pray for onsite for me or any of my friends.:licklips:
The most reliable and cheapest way :clapping:

This contrast ratio is marketing specification not ANSI you will get max 2200:1

decided to place order on bhphotovideo.com @$455.99, free shipping within USA. anybody please help me get discount coupon code from internet?

I will suggest to wait for 2 weeks and explore multiple options.. I was tempted to get it for 485$ once, but waited for 4 weeks and got it for 399$. Also, you can explore equivalents from other makers as well, and check for deals

yes practically it should and it will as power usage max is 280 watts which is well within max output of 800 VA.. however

what you sais is correct but tell me a practical scenario when there is a power cut. will there not be any device used then ? like a fan/tubelight anything else ? if no then 800 will suffice but then if there is any additional load. anything at all precisely then 1000va is a minimum needed.. trust me..

Yes. I understand and that's why I switch off all other things while using the projector even in normal electricity supply. Though I have checked another 200 watt with the inverter (one fan- 100W, 2 Tubelights - 50W each) but definitely not going to take risk. :)

By the way pls do you know the difference in UPS mode vs normal in the inverter

Ohh !!! That ways.... I dont have to worry about that as my entire house is plugged on to an independent inverter and the UPS will solely be used by the PJ. So I am guessing any 600VA UPS also will do the trick... i need time from the moment of the power cut to get up and switch off the PJ...

Thanks for all the clarification !!! :clapping:

600va UPS wont do the trick until you go for real good ones as most of the commercial brands never reach the quoted output and is never linear. during power failure and sudden load it will trip and the PJ will never run seamlessly.
i have checked it with the regular/local brands with 700va UPS..

Anybody using lens cover for the projector. Thre was lot of dust attracted towards the lens. Is there anyway I can find or buy a lens cap in a cheap way.

Waiting for your inputs.
