Acer H5370BD - Impressions

By the way pls do you know the difference in UPS mode vs normal in the inverter

Latest inverters have a switch which will help you to select between normal mode and UPS mode. In UPS mode, the switchover will be so quick like a normal UPS so that even PCs will not turnoff, where as in normal mode the switchover will take bit more time (in milli seconds) which may at times cause PCs to shutdown. The downside is that it will switch to backup mode even if there is slight power fluctuation.
This is what I understood from my inverter. If I am wrong, gurus can correct me.

what you mentioned is correct however even on invertor mode my pc/speakers/amp do not trip. they run as usual. however the mentioned feature and explanation stands correct but with UPS mode i assume the backup time reduces.

I found a serious flaw with the new Acer H5380BD Projector, the inputs are on the side of the projector which may not be the best position.

The wires won't look good and will also cause alignment issues because of all the weight hanging on to the sides.

But this one is quite a good looker than the current H5370 which has plain vanilla looks.

Is this a major flaw ? we will have hdmi and power cable connections to it most of the times. will it affect the balance of projector?

See how neatly the wires go behind the projector, now imagine it on the sides. Yes alignment is a problem and whenever I dust the projector, I end up with slight alignment issues even thou it is ceiling mounted.

i agree on the alignment part. happens with me as well but my PJ is well within my reach. hence a slight touch of finger and its back to normal :)
and Yes cables running from side will be ugly..

hunt for coloured beautiful cables...

Ohh and they have an audio out as welll and one HDMI(MHL) in !!!! seriously these guys should have thought this through... a couple of HDMI inputs are so handy to switch between Video Players and STBs !!!

Still that big power chord will still stay there... the power chord is your standard bulky chord which you find in desktop computers.

I think in this case you might be able to hide the HDMI cables a bit more better using the right angle HDMI adapter and run them through the body of the projector into your concealed piping.... I might be totally wrong though.. :P

90 degree right angle hdmi adapter female to male, 90 degree hdmi bend -pjp electronics: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

You are right !!! I missed that one !! This alignment I think is more suited for tabletop presentation rather than ceiling mount !!!

Can someone please confirm whether this UPS will suffice for the H5370 projector ?
Please note I have Reliance digital coupons so I need to redeem it.

Shop for iBall Nirantar 1KVA 1080V Line-Interactive UPS at Reliance Digital

By the way , I do have an inverter for the home but the projector and denon receiver trips when there is a power cut.And later the projector fails to come up.
I need to switch it off from mains and again switch on. I beleive the projector should also resume but it doesn't , not sure why it happens so. Any idea ??

I need to switch it off from mains and again start. I believe the projector should also restart in this case ,right ?

yes i have noticed that it shuts off and tries to start however the red "temp" light glows and it wont restart. you will have to shut mains and then back on and it for sure will kill the PJ some day.

this will work just fine :) 1000va will happily suffice. i dint knew 1000va got this cheap. recently picked 1000va APC for a friend close to 10k

Thanks a lot!!
I will buy the UPS at the earliest.By the way, even in reliance digital website there are two variants of APC and it shows 10k for one of them.
But I really think this UPS should be enough for my purpose.

this will work well without issues. power output of 600 watts. even if it delivers 500 at max should work out well for the PJ..

get the expensive one.
it is discussed in forum a lot of times, that for home electronics go for sinewave ups,not comp/pc ups..please google it

i assume even PC based ups are running on sive wave as per specs go. he wants a dedicated UPS only for the PJ and already has a inverter running for the house.
