ACT Broadband 10 Mbps !! Does it really WORK???

ACT Broadband has been advertizing crazy from past few months about their 10Mbps internet with pretty good FUP's of 50, 75, 100 GB etc for reasonable price. I wanted to know how good it is and does it really work with reliability and do they give the speed they promise?? A couple of years back ACT had very bad reviews but now some people have told me they have improved.

Wanted to know if anyone is using it and how well it works and do they have any hidden costs??? I have been using the BSNL 512 kbps dsl connection for many years and it has almost never given any problem and works flawlessly, hence i am skeptical about moving to something else.

Need help here !!!

Yes even I wanted to get it try out but unfortunately they are yet to provide the link in my area. My sister has the 4 mbps connection and she gets close to 2 mbps so in all probability the 10 mbps may give around 5 to 6 mbps which is good. Also they are one of the cheapest ISP's in Bangalore so far I have seen.

I too am tempted, but because I do not know what to expect in terms of downtime per month and MTTR, besides the quality of their tech support, I am witholding. I like to work from home now and then and I cannot risk a small time player who does not even begin comprehending the value of 24x7 uptime and responsiveness.

Yes they may not be as reliable as say reliance or bsnl or airtel. They are local players so if there is any disruption in service then I think you need to run behind them to get resolved, but my airtel is very fast and in fact I have got refund of close to Rs.500 if they are not able to rectify the service within 24 hrs.

Yes I was talking about download speed. My airtel 4 mbps gives me exactly 4 mbps speed for downloading.

But the hottest question is what is the download limit. I usually download 40 GB of data per month on a 256 Kbps connection costing 599 bucks a month and don't believe that any ISP will allow me to do that at even 2 Mbps.

I believe every ISP in India has a superb policy called FUP (fair usage policy) for unlimited connections and they set some limit and above which you go the speed is revised to 256 or 512 kbps as per ISP's.

I am using SITI wireless broadband services. 2 mbps unlimited and 12 am to 7 am 4 mbps ulimited no FUP. Rs 2500 PM.

youbroadband gives me 512 kbps from 8am to 10pm and 1mbps from 10pm to 8am. These are actual download speeds. Its quite reliable and costs me only around 700rs per month. This plan is hard to beat.
There is no upper cap officially. I have never faced it with downloads of 35gb per month. Must try.
ACT is not available in Pune yet I think.

so its 4 megabits per sec... thats 4096 kbps

divide that by 8 and you will get the actual download speed
as for download we calculate download in either KBPS or MBPS.

my connection of 20mbps gives around 2.3MBPS or download speed.

You broadband: 10 mbps till 30gb, post that 2 mbps unlimited @ Rs 1375/month. Better than Airtel/MTNL/BSNL.

naah its 4mbps only and hence the downloads running on 400KBps..

I got a call from Airtel (my existing ISP) offering me 8mbps connection with 75GB limit and 256kbps post that...for 1999

They also have a 30GB usage plan at 8mbps for 1699...

Considering Airtel is at least an established ISP and has a decent (at least in my experience) service, I'm tempted

5 net 10Mbps unlimited 24/7 for 1200 a month here in Mumbai.
Granted, my download speeds are ~5 Mbps, but that is still worthwhile.
