ACT Broadband 10 Mbps !! Does it really WORK???

I have been using an ACT 10 Mbps connection for the past 6 months and am extremely satisified with it. The speed is as advertised.. I see 10 mbps speed whenever I measure.

There have been no service disruptions for me in the last 6 months. They have a dedicated support person for my apartment complex, who is just a call away at any time.

All in all, from my personal experience, it is a definite thumbs up/

Dear Sir
It works at 5-6 MBPS, against claimed 10 MBPS, but 75GB Download
is a lot, however the Fiber Cable goes on top of the trees, if there is
a Fiber Cable Problem or a server problem , it takes 4-5 days to
come back up after 5-6 tel complaints everyday
Its worth for 75GB download

What about the Rajnikanth plans of yourbroadband? they claim to offer even greater speeds than ACT.

Also ACT I know is available only in some parts of Bangalore but not sure abt YOU.

Currently have 4mpbs /35Gb from BSNL for 1350. It works pretty ok..I routinely hit 400 kilobytes per second

If you guys are not getting full speed then you should lodge a complaint and keep escalating the matter. I've gotten results by simply lodging complaints with Appellate Authority/Nodal Authority. No reason why in this day and age you should settle for less especially when they are charging you for it.

I used Tata for a couple of years and always got the full speed 2 MBPS I was paying (2K) for. Now I use Beam Cable and I always get the promised speed of 15 MBPS.

I am going for a trail run of couple of days from tomorrow for BBNL. It seems that they are running since 2 yrs but the connection line came to my area recently. They are charging prepaid 10 mbps for 1k which is good. The sales guy is claiming that the download speed will come anywhere near 6 to 8 mbps. So thought of trying it out as my Airtel 4mbps for 2k is very high. Also he told that there is no download limit for this 10mbps connection as in FUP. Not sure what is the catch as their website as well does not specifically say about the FUP.

Anybody using this BBNL service then please comment. I do not have ACT in my area hence unable to go with them.

Thanks

full speed can depend on TCP throughput and network latency to the remote server and single tcp connection will rarely achieve link bandwidth .
Best way to test is torrent a popular file - if the torrent from multiple sources does not fill up 10mb then it may be a genuine link problem.

I use ACT broadband with 10Mbps 50GB plan. I'm very satisfied with the service so far. The down time is rare nowadays. Only had one major downtime of 3 days since I started using in Feb 2012. I also get the rated speeds most of the time. Also get 1Mbytes/s on most torrents. Very good especially compared to the last one that I was using , Tikona.. Which was an Absolute NIGHTMARE!.

Thanks.

Also, Airtel guys have improved their plans now. Look at the latest tariff for bangalore. They have some 30+ GB affordable plans now. Their plans were pathetic before. Some how I felt they were never interested in pushing their wired broadband business.

I went ahead with the service and so far it is superb. I have taken 10mbps plan and I get close to 9 mbps on the speedtest.net and on torrents I get close to 7 to 8 mbps. Most importantly there is no FUP limit. I download lots of stuff every month movies/music and completely satisfied with the service as well.

Thanks

True. Just checked it, ..8mbps, 60gb fup for 1200 - sweet deal considering I pay BSNL 1350 for 35 gb 4mbps. Also sent email to bbnl hoping they serve my area

This is very odd. For Chennai, they seem to have cut everything back to 2Mb/sec! Even the plan that I have, 4Mb/sec, 30Gb FUP, is not mentioned, let alone anything faster.

Weird company

I am on Airtel TRansonic 8mbps 60GB plan now for 1250/-+tax. Speed test indicates 6.7mbs or so ...

Most unfair. My 4Mb has just gone up to about 1600 :(. Can't remember if that is plus tax :( :(

But at least it works these days: after months of trouble, they seem to have finally fixed it :)

I am getting 9.5 MBPS download speed on ACT Broadband :-)

Can you paste a similar graphic? 9.5 out of 10 is very good!
