Hey Guys, attempting my first review on this forum..attemting it since what i auditioned literally blew me to bits.

I was there to collect my serviced RS 100/250; and boy what an amazing job did they do with it. it sounds just marvellous now. i guess when we live with a system for long, we dont realize if it's loosing that edge. highs are now rounded off, and i can listen to it for longer hours.

Over to what moved me to bits. i finally, like finally have come ot understand what imaging and soundstage is all about. i was earlier confusing these terms with "stereo" effect (RS 100 does stereo pretty decent)

CDP was a decent SONY player -> my RS 100 -> RS 250 OR RS (stupid me but i dont recollect model no., will update it tomorrow) -> Newer pulz speakers (it's made for stereo, it has front port and rounded design like the Usher BE 718 minus the angle).

CD's: Pat Metheny's The way Up, Oscar Peterson Live at Montreux & Dream Theater Awake

First up was my setup...coz i obviously wanted to check the work done; decent job, i was happy. played PM's the way up, perfect. sound was drier than prior servicing, highs rolled off. perfect stereo effect.

Plugged in newer amplifer in same setup minus my amplifier...played the same song....im familiar with this album for quite sometime now...it just blew me away coz, the first solo, which in my setup came directly from the speaker now came from four feet to the left of the speaker! and that too from a specific point above ear level. it was as if everything around it was silent and i could just hear the keyboards towards 2 feet right of the right speaker and such....i was mesmerized, the kind of system which would make you close your eyes and enjoy the mix.

Oscar peterson sat right across me, notes swirled up like waves and crecendos just destroyed everything i heard before.

im sure all of you guys have experienced this and much better but for someone new like me in this forum and on a mid segment budget...give this one a try...i really think it's something special. i think this amplifier and speakers are somethign special. im told the drivers are from BMS (Italy)

they havent freezed on the price for both as yet...however ashok felt both would be around 30k each (speakers 30k and amp 30k)...but again, please dotn quote me on that, they are yet to decide.

..........ashok!?!.......... ;)

lol :) i dont know his exact role over there...but seemed like an old employee. i also had a good chat with Mr. Ramakrishnan. very down to earth fellow, took the time to demonstrate their newer creations... (btw, they have a HT line too coming up., massive tower speakers and such)

pricing and model no.

1. Pulz Lark Speaker system - Rs. 24,500.00
2. Pulz RS 400 power amplifier - Rs. 30,000.00

oh i do not have pics..will see if Pulz is ok to share them.
btw, this amp is mighty heavy and almost three times the size of their RS 250.

Nice! The RS250 was a really good amp. It lacked the finesse at higher freqs that used to cause ear fatigue. The lows were punchy. It was a very musical amp but needed to be matched carefully. RS100 was a good pre...I heard the combo a lot with a pair of old Woodstock speakers that were built like safes...Nice setup it was (said Yoda! ;) )

Edit: It was the search for a RS250 that initially led me to this forum 3 years ago :)

rs 250 was transistor based amp...RS 400 is mosfet design...night and day by even pulz standards...i cant listen to RS 250 ever again :(

IIRC even RS250 was MOSFET but I'll take your word for it...should check up RS400...any Idea where in Bangalore?

Hi,

MOSFET is also a transisitor, and it is acronym for Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor.

Jenson, if I may ask, doesnt the Cadence system present music like that?

well, what mr. ramakrishnan quoted waas "250 is a transistor based amp and rs 400 a pure mosfet design" im not very good at these technicalities...however, thats what he quoted..

btw, do check it out.

Jenson, what is the size of these speakers?

ill be only guessing...but they must be around 1.2 feet tall, 8-9 inches in depth and 8-10 inches in width... comes in (slightly dull boot polish) black...finish could've been a lot better..

Jenson, if I may ask, doesnt the Cadence system present music like that?

my current combo does the sound stage and imaging pretty good, the best part is the cadence system throws image quite behind the speakers...hence has a live effect if you will with each member not standing in a line, but freely on the stage.

but, cadence doesnt extend it's image 4-5 feet forward, towards extreme left/right like the pulz combo did. what cadence does in spade is (front) wall to wall and behind it kind of sound stage and imaging pretty well. the best way to put it across is, live effect.

I had a demo of the Pulz RS400 power amp when i was on the lookout for a power amp to match my akai preamp. The RS 400 is a pretty good power amp. very heavy , neat interiors..dont remember his name but a guy called Ram opened the amp to show me the insides!

retails for around 30k, i'd recommend this amp !
