AMD Fusion APU

Looks great to me too.

I think reignofchaos is in the process of building a HTPC based on the Fusion APU, using this: MSI E350IA-E45 - AMD APU Fusion review

I was considering the same on seeing his setup, but my use is a bit different -- I want to build a Music PC, so space for a soundcard was essential. I'll be soon building a music PC based on ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS E35M1-M PRO and an Asus Xonar Essence STX. I've already ordered the cabinet and the PSU :)

Hi guys,
I was looking for a media player but the HTPC bug has bitten me.
I was looking at the AMD Fusion Gigabyte E350N: Ideal HTPC Platform and it appears to be a very good option for HTPC. Anyone tried this or have any opinions?

Vivek

I'm building one - should have the parts by the weekend. I'm getting the MSI equivalent board. I've never really had a good experience with Gigabyte.

I'm getting an Antec ISK310 case and 4GB of corsair DDR3. I might get an ATI 6420 as well since it turns out the onboard 6310 GPU does not have deinterlacing support according to anandtech.

Shall post photos tomorrow once I have the hardware in hand.

Cheers.

Ok, great. What would be the difference between the Gigabyte, MSI and Asus motherboards? I am sure it is not much, but nevertheless.
I have a desktop based on a Gigabyte board and it has given me no trouble so far. So, I thought of using it.

The MSI and Gigabyte boards are almost identical and cost between 8300-8500. The 6500 rupee asus board skimps on lot of things.

SO the E35M1-M PRO should be avoided? But it is fanless and I prefer it over the ones with a noisy fanny. Which are the fanless options?

PS: Thanks for the info BTW - guess this will be my HTPC platform too!! :clapping:

Aashirwaad computers on SP Road is where I get my stuff from. He has the MSI board in stock. The cabinet needs to be ordered as its not a fast moving item.

@Gobble : The only Asus board that can run completely fanless is the Deluxe board with that awesome heatsink. The others have a small fan on top of the heatsink. Unfortunately the premium is not available else it'd be my first choice too.

The only ISK casing available is the ISK310.

Hi ROC

What are the deficiencies about the Asus board hinted at earlier?

Thanks

Actually he would have to go for this one: Asus E35M1-I Deluxe

That has HDMi as well as WiFi & USB 3.0. This board has also been recommended by Anandtech

or even this one. It seems to have HDMI and it is also available at The IT Depot for Rs. 7050/-

Cheers
As I mentioned before the E35M1i deluxe is not available everywhere else would have bought it. The other board you are mentioning is not mini itx. Its micro atx. If you want to get micro atx, you might as well get a full fledged system instead of a fusion APU

I bought the MSI E350IA-E45 and a 4GB stick of corsair xms3 1600C9 ram for 10800 yesterday from Aashirwaad computers. Haven't managed to put it together yet as the antec case is still not available. Waiting for it to arrive.

Cheers!

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
