AMD Fusion APU

^^ You can use a 3.5mm to RCA cable to connect the onboard audio to the amp. The onboard audio is not likely to be anything good to write home about, though.

To get better results you can either:

- Get a soundcard and use the analogue-outs of the soundcard to feed your amp, or
- Get a DAC. You can get a digital signal out of the computer via USB or Optical (this motherboard does not have a digital coaxial out). The analogue out of the DAC can be used to feed signal to the amp.

BTW, by "amp", do you mean 2-channel amp or a receiver? I could be wrong, but something tells me you have an AVR. If you're planning to get audio out to an AVR, a HDMI cable will do the job.

Thanks Hydra for the useful tips.
Iam using a 2-channel amp.
You have both a DAC and the Asus Xonar. Connecting the analogue outs of the soundcard to your amp is one way or the optical out of the mb to the DAC and the analogue out of the DAC to the amp is the other way you suggest.Have you had a listen both ways?So how does the sound differ?

guys, i have one doubt about using mini ITX mother board with Asus Xonar Essense STX sound card...... i read that it uses power from the HDD wires ?? is that true ? So can we have such wires in a power brick or normal SMPSs ?

Thanks

The Asus Xonar STX draws power from a 4-pin molex connector, and not from the SATA power connector. All modern SMPSs would have this connector.

If you are using a mini-ITX only cabinet, do make sure is tall enough to take the Xonar STX -- it is a full-height PCIe card.

I think he meant that the on board DC PSU on the mobo may not have a 4 pin molex connector. Very good point Cha_Indian. Please check the mobo in the market and let us know.
