Hi All,
Had posted on this earlier also I think. For the past 25 years I have accumulated hundreds of decently shot photographs and have also digitized pre 2000 photos. Point is what to do with these photos if they are lying in some hardware unused?
So what do you guys do with it? In my case my kids are at the end of their teens, have taken some great holidays with family, of course family functions - weddings bdays..etc. It will be fun to have them flash in front of our eyes on a daily basis.
Solution I got was to get some cheap 10 inch Amazon fire tablets from woot refurbished for 25 dollars. Paid 250 rupees for an app called Fotoo and it works great. Except I think the fire tablet is not built for 24 hour function and hence it shuts down. Not sure if its the inherent quality of a tablet or because these are cheap refurbished ones. I also have new fire tablets and a 10 inch Lenovo chromebook/tablet also on which I will try the same experiment.
Assuming the issue with having them 24 hours a day is that they are not built to be always on - what is the alternative? Get a cheap monitor of say 15 inches and drive it on a Pi? I am seeing cheap 15 inch monitors badly reviewed for under 3K on Amazon. Cheapest PI with 1Gb ram I guess is around 3K. So for around 5-6K this will be a good way to digital photo frame?
