Arcam A38 / Primare i30 / Musical fidelity A5 ?

I am searching for a used Integrated amplifier for my Monitor audio GS20.
Kindly suggest me out of the above 3 amplifiers which one is good.
all the three are available in ebay.uk but how to bring it here?:sad:

Dont buy used amplifier from overseas, unless someone will carry it for you. IIRC, importing used electronics is prohibited. Also shipping cost will be hefty, as most of the good amplifier will be very heavy. You can find plenty of good used amps in indian market. Mention your budget and requirement in a thread under wanted section, there will be quite a few FMs who will guide further.

I have explored ways to get an Exposure DAC from U.K. and it is not easy. EBay/Amazon had no means for such items. Bartlettshi-fi.com is one option but unfortunately, you will have deal with customs on your own. Jamie from Bartletts will give you a VAT discounted rate plus insured shipping. Worth exploring though.

Check interparcel website for shipping quotes. For a 12 kg box with 55x45x20 cm dimensions 1 to 4 days shipping by Fedex costs 103.30. You can schedule a pick-up from India and pay by Paypal.
I used to have an account with fedex but the Interparcel rates are way cheaper than the discount offered to me by fedex as an account holder.

Another such site offering such service is parcel2go bit I haven't used them.

Also remember placing an order for new items from India you would be eligible for 20% VAT waive off.

I would suggest the Trigon Energy over all of these. I dont know your budget but that one is one hell of an amp at the price point ! A shade over a lakh. I have heard the Primare and MF but not the Arcam.

I just love the Primare build. I auditioned it a long time ago: it was more than twice the price of the ex-dem cyrus that I bought, and I could not afford it, but I was still sad to leave it behind. I fell in love the moment I touched the volume control!

Last weak i auditioned Monitor audio GS 20 with
Musical fidelity M6i & M3i , also marantz 7004. from Audio people chennai.

Mf M6i impressed me first and then M3i.
7004 sounds normal,

But Mf amps are expensive and out of my budget now,
that is why trying used amps.:sad:

and vincent.
But personaly i prefer integrated amplifier with HT BYPASS
due to lack of space & also want to keep the system simple& integrate my Yamaha av receiver .

Yes, the primare looks nice

I have tried out the Trigon energy and Primare i30 in my system. The primare ( 2 times)

Primare has a slightly cool (cold) signature to the sound. It is if the amplifier is trying hard to sound sophisticated. It takes away some of the emotional connection. But I can see why some folks will like the sound.

Trigon sounds detailed without the coldness of the primare. Fast with great timing. Much more musical and forms an instant connection with the listener.

Both are powerful and enjoyable but in slightly different ways. The dual tranny power supply design of Trigon makes sure there is enough drive although on paper the watts looks slightly less.

I have MF A5.5 got from Audio people this April..
I got it for 70k ex-demo with bill and warranty..

How much is the budget you are looking at for used MF?
My thiels could do with little bit more bass like the naim/nad pre pro..
Give me an offer which will put me in upgrade path and I'll think about it.. hyeah:

Anyway, look is one thing, feel is anther --- but it is the sound that matters most, and if you don't like that it's no good.

A Primare never fails to impress. I was mighty impressed with them when I heard the I30. With time my fondness with Primare only grew. I am positive their new offerings carry the genes of the old ones.
