Bangalore Hifi meet 2011?

Santhosh, let me know if you need any further help on this.
Thanks mate, appreciate your role in getting M/s Final Touch to get some stuff for the meet. Will surely let you/Akash know if we require further help.

Though I'd love to meet the forum members from Bangalore, I didn't express interest because I should not stand in the way of the locals who should get preference (IMHO) If the list is not final and if there is a possibility, kindly consider my name too.:)

Hi,

As of now I will be attending the meet.Hopefully nothing will come up at the last minute to mess up my plans. I might be a little late as I plan to come by the Shatabdi.

CaptRajesh & Rajiv, please go ahead and book your tickets. It would be our pleasure to have you guys over from Chennai. If you require any help with logistics (transport/stay etc), please feel free to let George\Raghu or myself know.

I can bring my Lyrita Phono stage.

What cartridges will be used at the meet? If there are MC cartridges I will have to bring the step up transformer also.

Any tube amps being demoed?
Rajiv, will let you know once we have more clarity\consensus on the agenda.

GeorgeO, santhol2:
Accomodating only 38 +- 2 is fine (as per the room constraint). What about others?
Is there anyother alternative? I feel it would be good to have them all. (Leaving others sounds little rough!!) Afterall its an event get-together of the "HFV bangalore chapter". Can it be possible to have 2 sessions on the same day? May be not, but again thinking about other folks who would be missing in the first 38 lot (May be the agenda can be updated with 2 sessions to accomodate all of them)!! Just my 2 paisa!

sgmane, believe me we don't want to leave out any one (if we could help) and I can assure you we are trying to do the best we can:).

Thank you for the wonderful gesture buddy. I need to visit Bangalore on official business in any case. So I might as well make it official. Even otherwise, I have a couple of clubs to fall back on.
we also have a smaller room available on the ground floor for auditions.

Once you finalise the agenda, it may be a good idea to split the attendees in two groups of different interests like for example, those interested in setup for smaller room, those interested in video+HT and those interested in 2 channel audio etc. Just my 2 cents.

This one has shaped into a purely hi-fi meet. We will have one more meet a little later for the videophiles. If the numbers are less than 10, I am happy to host this at my home. We'll start a seperate thread for that after this one.

Friends,
We have received a fantastic response from both enthusiasts as well as from enthusiastic commercial members. Since we have constraints of seating (35 seats) and available time (10 AM to 4PM on Aug 7th), we now need to manage both.

To help us plan better, we would like to ensure that our current list (45+ members) is accurate and not dated. So request everyone interested to kindly PM Raghu (raghumailbox) your confirmation details in format below:
Name:
Hifivision Handle\ID:
Email Address:
Phone Number:
Your areas of interest:
Two tracks songs that would help you audition the systems critically:
Do you plan to leave early or come in late?
Will you be around for lunch?:

Please send Raghu (raghumailbox) this information latest by Sunday, 25th July as we will be freezing the list by then. Participants are requested to follow updates on this thread regularly for any changes.

Only because we have so many different people, diverse tastes/preferences, varied genres, numerous equipment etc but limited time, we will proceed with the approach mentioned below.
  • We'll have 4 systems (max 5) each of which we'll play for 1 hour. We already have the required number of systems (details to follow).
  • Commercial members have been requested and have agreed to get entire systems. This is to ensure that they get a combination that they are comfortable with - a chain that they know works well.
  • Systems brought in by commercial members have been categorised based on their MRPs. Please note that the intention is not to typecast systems\brands\dealers but only to ensure that there are no competing products on audition. Also, participants get to listen to systems across various price points.
  • Music: Plan is to collect music preferences from members [via email] and burn around 10 to 12 popular numbers from various genres on to a CD in WAV format. This will be our reference CD and will be played on all systems. Members are free to get their own CDs but will only get a chance to play their CDs if time permits.

We arrived at this after discussing among ourselves and also with some experienced audiophiles and experienced commercial members. Intention is not to be rigid but just have a plan and stick to it so we can make the meet a success. Your suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for your understanding and co-operation.

Thanks Santhosh for your efforts.

Please note that as of now we plan to alternate the presentations with auditions to allow for a variety of experiences and make it more interesting and enjoyable. According to convenience we will have a presentation, an audition, a second presentation and then an audition, with a tea/coffee break in between to allow the gear for the second audition to be set up, and so on.

Also, our intention is not to compete but to shed light on various aspects/gear, for everyone's benefit. We realise that Sunday is a weekly off for some, and we want to make the time spent as productive as possible to all the participants.

Cheers.

Hi George/Santhosh,

Thanks Madhu, it is a team effort and we too are enjoying co-ordinating this meet. Thanks for checking mate, we might take you up on your offer if we need help:)

I have send in a request to Raghumail. Unless there are some last minute cancellations, I may be left standing outside to peep in :o

What time does the Shatabdi reach Bangalore Cantt-any idea? If it is around 1030, and on schedule then you will need to budget at least 30 mins to reach the venue. If it doesnt stop at Cantt( I think it does) then you have a problem-from City it will take longer and you also reach there a bit later.

Hi,

George, the Shatabdi does not stop at Cannt. It reaches City at around 10.50 AM .Most often it is on time .

From there to Indranagar by Auto/Cab should take about 45 minutes.Hoping to make it by to the venue before noon.

Regards
Rajiv

Santosh, George
Many thanks for organizing this. I am planning to drop by in the afternoon as I am interested to listen to System #4. I sent my details to Raghu.
