Best 42" plasma at Rs 40,000....

@ kittu1977
Thanks, bought from Adishwar Domlur for 64k.

@shaiju
Thanks buddy, your suggestions have helped me to decide..

@gadgetcrazy
Thanks. I should not watch regular dth?

Avoid for the first 200 hours if you can. Other than that, zoom in so that logos are excluded from the screen. That will kill all the fun though.

hi

Got my panny v20 today along with a complementary watch :).

Panasonic guy is coming today evening to install.

What all precautions should i remind him while installing,or should i leave all it to himself.no idea... guys pls advice.

waiting anxiuosly to get it opened to see it first and then to switch it on.....

would update later ...

thanx.

1. make sure you have got a new piece and not a demo. Search for a thread with similar theme on this forum.
2. Make sure whether you want it wall mounted and if so, where.
3. Dont bother too much about little things and enjoy!

You mean it did not identify the movie or the drive?

You mean it did not identify the movie or the drive?

the installation guy tried with usb.it recognized the usb but said no readable files.(i doubt that he would have clicked on the photo link)

again tried today morning and it is recognizing avi files. I had a 720 p wmv file which didn't play.

hi,
i have connected dish sd connection to my Panasonic v20 and played couple of DVDs also.

I am pretty happy :) with the perfomance as of now.

Not yet tried any HD videos.

I have tried a 720p .wmv file thru USB but TV didn't recognize the file.(HD DivX logo is given in the carton. What do that mean??)

I am planning to go for a HD player after some time.

What should i buy??

a) blue ray player(sony worth 10K)
b) HD media players(heard about WD Media player,Xtreamer,AC Ryan etc)
c) an upscaling AVR.(Don't know about the price)
d) or any upgrade in my desk top computer would make HD videos possible.

Need your suggestions on this.

Thanks..

If you are planning to buy blueray disks frequently then you can look for Sony Bdp s370. It supports a number of HD movie formats via USB.. So you will be able to play most of your stored movies via USB.. price ~9k

If your have a huge collections of movies on your computer/HDD then media player is the way to go.. WDtv ~6.5K, Xtreamer ~9k, ACRyon ~10.5k

Hi! everybody i was set to buy LG 42 pj560 at 39k but had some considerations-so i stopped.the below few were my thoughts-not to offend/discourage anybody buying a plasma..

1.Yes,agree the burn in is not a issue -but not 100% over right?so,in indian tv viewing conditions-we have these black barred channels and programs quite often-and it will somewhere at the back of our mind make us uncomfortable (and switching between different video modes for different programs is not feasible).Add to this there are these channel logos and DTH logos..

2.HD ready is not exactly same as FHD ,even for a laymen like me the difference was clearly visible from 5ft on the HD content .It has difference let us agree. So,there will be a psycho hindrance in our mind that we are not getting the full quality when playing full HD content..

3.Though may not apply to all of us,most have laptops (many with HDMI out). We may at sometime venture into gaming or say even browsing on tv (a scenario of watching FHD content on youtube),the FHD is better right?

4.May seem far fetched ,but content greater than 1080p have started making rounds and with the fast pace of technology -they may be a reality in 3 years (coz i was the one who told 3 yrs back that HD channels will never make it to india in next 6-7 years.. ).At that point in time 1080p s may become the today's 720p s.(and then 1080p channels may be of large number..)

5.Say you buy a panny or a lg or a sammy plasma- all are in the range of 40k ,max upto 43-44k.Atleast for the budget buyers like me- 40-45k on a TV is a big investment and expect not to invest on another for atleast 6-7 years (did i say my existing ONIDA is 18 yrs old and the picture quality id better than a LCD? :) ) .So,want it to be as much future ready as possible..

6.Seeing the other options,I found FHD LCD-Toshiba Regza 42 RV600E at 40k,LG Jazz 42 80fr at 47-48k (yes the same model which was the top LG model in 2009 ).With these options i began contemplating-will i spend a little more say on a LG and go for a FHD LCD or the toshiba option..

With all these thoughts in mind, have postponed the purchase to Ganapati festival (to max dasara :) ),and see which FHD LCD comes in this price point with good quality :)

Again,i am not here to spark off a Plasma v/s LCD debate-just my thoughts..

Hi,
Can anybody suggest me how to utilise my desk top pc to watch HD Videos.

I don't have a blu ray player or HD media player to watch HD content.

I am looking for a cost effective option.Later i would go for a HD media player.

any suggestions..

Dijeesh.

you will need a decent graphics card with hdmi output, and then you can connect it to plasma also need a bluray drive if you want to play bd's

if my pc has DVI port and if i get a DVI-HDMI converter, will that solve the issue.

Older graphic cards wont support HD movies??or is it a must to have a latest graphics card.Any idea how much it would cost?

DVI-HDMI converter works just fine.
By "older graphics cards", just how old do you mean? If you are referring to AGP platform cards then they may have a problem playing HD content. But most of today's PCI-e cards, even the cheap fan-less ones, will be able to play HD videos. However if you want to play the latest games, then you will have to get at least a mid-priced graphics card.
