Best 5.1 speakers within Rs.60000

Im not sure, but its the replacement to the moviestar 70+.

Yup, if its the same most wharfedale speakers r auditioned at their audition rooms either with yamaha or denons. They should match well.

I seriously didnt find anything worthwhile in the polks, hence asking you to reconsider.

Have u btw tried out the pioneer 50-60k htib's? Mate, those babies r seriously good too. They come with an pioneer amp and pioneer bookshelves or FS depending on the model. Lot of rave reviews in one of the avenuesound hifi visit post too.

Hi everyone,

I am new entrant in this forum and quite enthused by gr8 information shared by all audiophiles.

I happened to browse this website for a query.......

Sony HT -M5 versus
Yamaha RXV371 AV receiver with 5.1 wharfedale Moviestar 60plus surround speakers

Which is a better buy?
My reqt.
1. room size 4X5m
2. To be connected to Sony LCD 32inches
3. primary purpose 50% of the times output from HD channels on TV
30% music play and 20% DVD watch.

Price Sony 49K vs Yamaha+ 39K

Dilemma: Wharfedale speakers are one of the best as I have reviewed on net but this model is probably discontinued now. How does it affect the sound quality?
space constraint with Sony HT-M5.

I am in chandigarh so not many options available other than these (HK+JBL or Yamaha ror SOny/LG etc.)

Would be grateful for quick replies and suggestions.

Regards
Dr Jain

Any experience with Moviestar series of speakers from Wharf?
How to ensure what you are getting are new one ( as probably these are discontinued now)?

why dont try sonodyne at south city mall....u will get good speakers at your range.
sonus bookshelfs,roar sub and r ear surrounds....all within 35k and a denon 1612....
audition the sonodyne..they are also in mani square i think...
by the way I will be in kolkata and will be avilable in saturday full evening ..it will be my plesure if I can accompany you...for demo
or it will be a little costlier go for polk tsi amd denon 1612 from profx.......
also try promises at thetaer roas..they are also a very trusted name in kolkata hi fi customers.

edit-you will get a very good system if be a little patient.then buy a avr and 2 fronts within 60k....and buy a sub, surrounds, centre later when budget permits..in this way you will get a killer system....
if only for movie the also can buy a avr and a centre and a sub..........buy rear and fronts later..........

Pls tell me ur views about the following package :-
All are Polk Audio
Centre - cs10
front - tsi200
surround - tsi100
sub - psw 110

Is there any significant difference between tsi200 and tsi300 as front speakers considering the extra price:)

Hi

I would also like to know the suggestion and opinions of members in this site of the following package.

Denon 1713
Polk TSI 300 - Floorspeakers
Polk CS 10 - Center
Polk TSI 100 - Surround/ or FXi A4
Polk PSW 110 - Sub

or if any one could suggest any better option with Denon and Wharfedale it would be gr8:)

Most definitely the bookshelves.
U do realize that now you are getting to a point where you are really pushing ur budget beyond 60k.
Firstly chuck the TSi series and go for the RTi series bokshelves and centers. Tsi was very mediocre to me. U will also need a better amp. I honestly dont think the 1713 is good enough to run bookshelves.

First decide mate if you want a satellite 5.1 package or bookshelves. There is a huge difference as far as budgets go.

which one is better?

I have been using HDMI V1.4 MX Cable, 180 degrees rotatable on both ends for Rs 800.

If you dont want rotatable @ the ends, you can settle for less. Around 500 - 600 Rs.

I have bought a RED GEAR hdmi cable for 500 bucks from flipkart. till now it is performing well when it is connected from pc to tv.
Is this cable good enough for using it with the denon avr for getting lossless sound ?

As my receiver is Non-HDMI , I haven't used HDMI features much. But looking at the specs of RED GEAR cable in flipkart, they are v1.4.

Yes..As with any HDMI cable, It should be able to transfer lossless sound....

I have decided to go for separates, instead of polk TL1600
Very confused between wharfadele 10.1 & polk tsi200(for front)...

Already booked denon 1612 from Profx.
SKS traders is saying that both centre & front speakers must be of same brand...is it true ?
I have chosen(not finalized) for the sub and rear - psw110 and tsi100.

How will be the combo of polk cs10(centre) & wharfadele 10.1(front) or it is better to go with tsi200(front)

Pls help me out. Tell me the best combination.:)

Hi Vineet,

I was there at Alfa today to enquire abt what they have in stock. They seem to be selling Boston 5.1 WS for 18K and Denon 1713 for 31.5K, though they also have Focal Sib 5.1 for 48K (way above my current budget).

I was thinking to go for denon 1713+ boston ws 5.1 and had ordered for delivery for tomorrow (tough shopkeeper was insisting for Focal) but they just called me a while back to inform that speaker is not within 1 year warranty (earlier they had confirmed of 1 year warranty). I am having mixed thoughts now abt the whole buying stuff from alfa and wanting to explore more.

Considering you've mentioned 1713's price of 30K I was wondering whether it's with bill/warranty. Please advise.

Yes.. Front & center should be from the same series/family...

I have diamond 9.2 as Fronts & Onkyo HTIB center speaker & there is plenty of difference when i use it in HT mode....

Polk & Wharfedale have different sound signature.... Wharfeale on the warmer side & Polk lil on the brighter side.... Since you have a receiver, i would say go with the TSi series as they are most efficient ( have 3 db higher efficiency) than diamond series...

Diamond' series are less efficient and they WILL need more power to perform @ their best...

If you can spend more then RTi would be better...If not TSi will be easier for the receiver to handle...

Also remember about front & rear ported speakers... If you are going to keep it close to the rear wall, front ported are better....

Shekhar,

If u have a tight budget go for energy RC micro...at around 40k or maybe slightly less. Yes, Denon 1713 at 30k with warranty.

Does anyone around here has Focal sib & co 5.1? Am considering pairing the same with denon 1713. would like to have some feedback/thoughts from experts around.

My requirements are
1. Airplay
2. Connectivity
a. Tata Sky HD
b. Blue Ray player
c. PS3
d. DLNA + Wifi support (I already am sharing files from my i-mac to LG 55" 5700 3d TV and would like to shares files to AVR. I assume that AVR will then be able to process video files and reflect them on monitor. some1 pls confirm).
3. I also plan to install a NAS drive at home with bittorrent support (so that i can dload files with computer not required to run, further the AVR should be able to access files even when comp is off
4. Most files to be supported (viz Blueray, MKV, 3d, etc)
5. Mostly movie watching with good overall sound quality (speaker system needs to have a good low, mid & high - tested the Focal Sib & co today and found them to be doing a good job unlike BA 5.1 which though had a good high, falters in mid & low

While I initially thought of building up the whole system, I am currently considering sattelite based 5.1 system.

Also would like advise on a Region 1/A Blue-ray player to match my above system, any feedback on the same? I also have a PS3 (bought in india), which I am planning to use for Region C/3 blue-rays.

Pl Help me choose bet. Monitor Audio Vector 5.1 and PSB Alpha HT1 5.1? both are around 55k.

Or shd I go for Focal Sib Co at 35k or Energy RC Micro at 40k or Elac Starlet at 50k?

Klipsch Quintet 4 is available at 55k as well...what to do?

Totally confused!
