Looking for the following products in Kolkata

Marantz PM6006
Dali Zensor 3
Elac Debut B6
Wharfedale Diamond 225

Can someone suggest best places to audition / purchase and indicative prices?

I checked with Auditro Systems, Park Street who quoted around 35k for Dali Z3 and 39k for PM6006. Do the prices sound decent?

Any comments on Amplifier + Bookshelf combos for the speakers suggested would also be welcome.

Try to bargain with Auditro. Also look at hifimart prices for marantz as target price. For dali another dealer is SKS traders.

For elac and wharfedale, watteffects is the dealer

Since you are still in the exploratory stage, and have not finalized on the speaker-amplifier combination - it might be prudent to visit a 'good' audio store and ask them for recommendations within your budget. It was in that context that I recommended Harmonie audio. They may be able to give you suggestions suitable for your budget - possibly combinations that you can hear at their showroom - which will allow you to take a more informed decisions. Audio, as you would have gathered by now, is very subjective, and there is no substitute to hearing the equipment you plan to buy.

Have checked out Marantz-WD/Dali combos in Bombay hence wanted to start with that.

Dali Zensor 3 should not cost more that 29-30K.

Please negotiate.

Marantz and Dali are what you call 'safe' bets, you generally do not go wrong with this combination when you start. Having said that better performance can be had of course, a lot depends on your budget and so what is it?

You can do much better than Dali & marantz for that money. Not to negate these brands - they are good, but you can do better for your money.

Keeping an equal 50/50 budget between speakers and amplifier, at around 50K for speakers - you can look at the Dynaudio Emit 10 bookshelf, Castle bookshelf, Usher bookshelf, PSB imagine, focal chorus bookshelf etc. If you have access to showrooms in Mumbai & Bangalore, then you can probably get to hear some of the above

He can hear PSB , Dynaudio , Triangle , Cabasse, B&W , Q Acoustics bookshelves in Kolkata itself,no need to go anywhere. Dynaudio Emit M20 is a great speaker within 60k. Ushers sadly are all sold out,which were best buys at any price points any given day.

Listen to all the names mentioned here and as Anauj mentioned apart from Castle all of these can be heard here, can not emphacise this point more - you must listen to all before you make up your mind, mightily important that.
With your budget you can do better than Dali Zensors.

Surprised no one mentioned WattEffects, Southern Ave. The owner Utsav is a real nice person. I got my Wharfedale Diamond 121s from them. They keep Quad, Cambridge Audio, DAC Cables to mention a few.

Also, hifimart did not ship to Kolkata when I called them 2.5 years back. They probably need some tax related forms to be filled up (I think this is a fedex thing? ) which is quite a hassle for some of us.
