Need suggestion on bookshelf for NAD D3020

Hi

you can look into elac b5 or b6 speakers also .

I dont know about elac sir.. at present,my budjet is tight. So im decided togo with only receiver and fronts now and rest later. So want to buy a good front speaker. I gothrough wharedale, polk etc. Kindly suggest me sir

Marantz is a very good AVR, they blend well with most of the speakers. It cant go wrong mostly, but there is something called personal taste that is why most of them ask to take a demo before deciding.
Marantz paired with WD220, Dali Z3 or Polks sound well as per most of the forum members feedback.

guys, need to cancel order with amazon :(

Now waiting for local dealer to have stock of dali, will take proper demo and decide on it.

Let me know what points to consider during demo.

Hey Jigar. I just noticed you posted a pic of the desk you intend to put the speakers on. If you want something nearfield you might want to look at powered monitors as most bookshelves are not at their best in near field. Some other FM's might chime in.

Thanks, I understand but
I already have AMP, so don't want to go Active or Powered Speaker route.

However if you have input around placement of bookshelf on table, it would be great.

Thanx to posting on this thread, a fm contacted me and now I actually have a pair of the Wharfedale 220's. Got them at a good price, less than half of the Zensor 3's. Would have to say that the Zensors 3's are better, even to my relatively inexperienced ears. But twice as good, I doubt it. If moolah is not a factor the Z3's are great, and u probably would not want a sub with those, especially since they are not going to be used in a HT setup.

Now coming to my experience with the wharfedales. Bear in mind, this comes with minimal experience in hi-fi except for the Audioengines which my bro has. Therefore I was prepared for the Wharfes having next to no low end presence, but the speakers have good bass. A sub would help, but I can go 2.0 for a while since I'm satisfied with the low end. My bigger worry was the sensitivity, since the NAD is supposed to be a 30 watt amp, but have not been able to go beyond 80% on the volume dial because its too loud. So those worries have been laid to rest.

Overall sound is way better than what I am used to, which is not saying much. But truthfully, was expecting a kind of sonic revelation which I guess does'nt happen at this budget.

Don't know if the NAD can be called a "warm" amp. Combo with Wharfes is nice, and not fatiguing, at least for me. Low volume listening is fine, though I like them slightly loud. Btw the Dali Zensors( even the 1's) are consistently rated above the wharfes, though there is the matter of personal preference. Hope this helps.

Congrats. Nad are usually neutral. Wharfedales are considered warm. So the overall experience should be very good and non fatiguing. If your budget approves, try these http://www.amazon.in/gp/aw/d/B00COD...=0VB941XGC3SSCESSBJJR&dpPl=1&dpID=81x0XUqBJwL

Thanks for the isoacoustics tip tuff and Mash. Those looked interesting and that got me thinking since I have my speakers on a wall unit. So I put my hands on the top of the wall unit where the speakers rest during a slightly bass heavy song and yes, reverberations. Could feel the top vibrate slightly during the bass hooks.

So, I got out foam covers from some old speaker packaging, cut them about 1 inch deep and wide enough to cover the entire speaker base. After a few mins of listening I could immediately tell a difference; the low end was not one muddled mass and low end clarity was much improved. So I spray painted them black and now they don't look out of place at all.

Would recommend this DIY or more expensive products if u're using a desk etc. Am very happy with the the speakers now. :-). Recommended DIY for cheapskates. Cost me bout 15 mins. And I might still go for the Mopads later.

Thanks for DIY, will surely try it.

Can you post of final painted foam and original foam picture for reference.

Hi Jigar,

Don't think too much just buy one which suits your budget and taste. The more you ask more options you get. Sound is subjective for casual listener. I would suggest audition dali in camp area and PSB lakozy behind mandai. BA A26 are good speakers looking at budget. Also whats the source of your music, thats important factor as well. If its CD then fine and if mp3 then brands aren't going to help much. Are you considering DAC or media player?.

Was able to take demo of dali from friend circle relative.
I found that bass was lacking ( or not to my taste ).

Hence ordered wharfedale diamond 225, from HiFiMart. :licklips:

Source will be PC ( flac, wav and mp3 ).

NAD D3020 already has built in DAC.

Which Dali model did you try and with which amp?

When I said lack of bass, it might be because of following

In same room I had yamaha rx v375 + wharfedale ms 100 home theater, which is now moved to living room.

So my ears might be waiting to hear bass like from sub woofer. :)

Hope wharfedale diamond 225 will satisfy me in bass.

For Bass better look at Elac B6

Finally wharfedale diamond 225 arrived on monday evening. :yahoo:

Liked the sound, bass is good.

Soundstage is good, really it's different world of music. :licklips:

My first HiFi Setup, very happy with it. :yahoo:

At first I kept directly on table, they didn't sounded good.

Then attached rubber feet came with and it make whole world of the difference.
