I have a Bose Lifestyle 18 home theater system which is very good for watching movies. But one cant just sit and watch movies all day, right?
So I've started to listen to music and i found the performance to be below BOSE grade. So these are the few settings that i changed:
ADAPT IQ:OFF(As it increases the BASS and TREBLE limit from 9 to 14)
Mode:Video(5 speakers)
Bass:14
Treble:0
Surround Sound:+6
Center channel:-2(to balance the loss of volume from the rear speakers due to video mode)
After these settings the music quality has improved alot but im still far from satisfied.
What else can i do to increase the sound quality? Anyone here using a different preset please share it.

BOSE by default push too much BASS, Try to reduce BASS setting.
I have ONKYO AMP + BOSE speakers. I always set, Treble +8(max) , BASS -8(least).
And if you have LFE/BASS in your subwoofer- Turn the knob to reduce to minimum.
Not sure about Lifstyle, But i think it will help.

Center channel:-2(to balance the loss of volume from the rear speakers due to video mode) - Its recommended '0' or '2' to hear dialogs clearly.
Surround Sound:+6 - I think this is too much. Set it to 0 or max +2.

And IF your BOSE amp have the music mode/stereo mode. Set it to stereo mode ,stereo mode is the best for listening music. Or music mode is ok.

I think the music quality depends upon the genre of the songs that you are playing.

As you would have seen from the numerous Bose bashing threads in HFV... the best setting for your Bose system is OFF! :ohyeah:

Couldn't resist that one sorry :D

Thanks alot. The lifestyle system is very bad when it comes to bass(so its better off at 14). And i did try your setting but mine feels better :D

Whats the level of front speakers with repect to listening position/ear level? Get the front speakers at ear level. It helps a lot for music. Will Much better imaging and details. Even the direction of speakers is important. Turn them slightly towards you (toe in) if they facing straight to the back wall.

The speakers are fixed now.The angle and level cannot be changed. It is way above the ear level

Hmmm. That is a significant issue. Seems that no one guided you properly during initial instalation. Your arrangement is ok for movies (provided your centre speaker is near your TV or screen) but for music, the front right and left channel placement is very important. Can you at least change their inclination and direct them towards the listening position? If no, then I would seriously recommend you to take the pain to change their position (unscrewing the fixing screws if needed) if you are serious about music listening.

I was a kid when we got that home theater. And they say that Adapt IQ calibrates everything. But i have personal experience and i know that all Adapt IQ does is increases the feature list on the catalog.Luckily there are no screws on the front speakers.Double sided tapes have been used!Gonna rip them soon now!Maybe today itself. Will let you know about the improvements.
