i have connected my tata sky hd set up box with the lifestyle media centre thru am optical cable...i am not getting sound only in front speakers ..one odd channel ..the sound comes thru all speakers ..??? is it anything to do with the transmission

Bose has an inbuilt stereo to multi channel enhancer which will always work on all sources. If you don't want it to do that you will have to go to settings and choose number of speakers as 2 rather than 5.

if there is asound with any other source if you can try on the same input then it is definitely tata sky sound mixing problem.

pls check your speaker connections. It may be that your fronts are connected to front outputs of your amp.
Connecting with optical will get 2 channel audio for SD channels, and surround dolby only for HD channels (5.1)
