Hi guys. My HT is 16 * 12 ft (L*B), 9 ft tall with false ceiling (gypsum).

The pic shows the entrance of my HT ( only side of room I am acoustically concerned for now ) Glass door is yet to be kept. The room was designed for family living cum tv purpose. Later on I decided to go with a dedicated HT setup. As u can see I hav put on some thin curtains behind the glass.

When I play music or watch movies it causes some worry to my family. I want to make it soundproof to maximum extend within a limited budjet.

Now my question is

What should I do so that sound doesn't escape the room ?

Do I need to change the glasses and put on woodwork for partition ?

Will stickers and thicker curtains help to an extent ?

Glass is 12mm in size. Silicon treatment given at all ends.
It does give some kind of vibrations at high volume. Any solution to that ?

The easiest solution is to put thick drapes over the glass. Preferably on the side where the sound is generated.

Yup. I was thinking about the same. How about those darker films which we use in cars and all ? Anything available like that ?

Buddy,

Sorry if I missed something, but few questions to begin with. What is the purpose of the glass? Is it to let in light to the rest of the house?

Because if that wall is serving no such purpose, I would just (brick) wall it off, make a thick wooden door and be set. And put some nice wall paper on the outside to take care of the decor.

If you still need glass, you can look at UPVC door/windows. They are supposed to cut off a bit of sound, but no matter what they tell you, believe me they are not sound "proof." (I have them installed in my bedrooms/living room, and it does not really "cut" out the sound.

Do let us know..

First of all, Hello to everyone. I just registered on the forum, i am new here. And this is my first post.
Ok, the Glasses are the main issues according to my views. If i am not wrong, you've not used any absorbive material inside and haven't done any acoustic inside. So, the question rises here is, what you're going to do in the reflection of sound inside HT.?
Peopel's on this forum, are more genius, smart enough to conquer anyone's problem, but the suggestion they're giving about the materials to use is i don't like beneficial.
I mean, someone abive said that, change your Glass. Lol, if i am not wrong, how exactly you're absorbing the sound? By improving the thickness of tge Glass and on the other hand Reflection of the sound too. [emoji1] [emoji1]
Anyways, if that Glass is not purposely used, change it with any wooden panel, i'll not recommend any brad or manufacturer.
And yes, someome said that, use wallpaper for decor.? Really, if one has to pay for decor, why don't he overcome with the multi uses of the same investing.. I'll suggest you to use FR Fabrics,
Good Luck. [emoji1]

Sorry for the late reply. Was preparing for my PG exams. Thanks everyone for the tips . I'll be uploading a design of my HT soon. Maybe then u all can help me out with acoustic suggestions. Thanks once again.

This is my HT guys. I was thinking of maintaining the glass , to give it some tinted look from outside & cover it with wooden frame work & plywood from the inside. Step by step if somebody could help me out it would b damn cool [emoji41] [emoji41]
