Building my Home Theatre Room - Please guide me

santosh chk out these recliners i piked up from shivajinagar
i got 2 of these to see if its ok for the HT room ,
it costed 850 each
they are quiet ok , but u need to put a layer of cushion on it
it has 3 lockable positions , the last position really is very reclined, and if the movie is boring u are sure to doze , it did happen to me a few times ,so i have kept it @ the second position so as its not too reclined

Subhash, thanks for that info on recliners. My requirement is something similar mainly because of the light weight of your recliner. I have the door at the rear and need to move the seat away if anybody is coming in or going out. Will check it out at your place and decide.

Guys: Santhosh and Subhash> What are you doing????

You are spending fortune on the acoustics, equipment and you are happy keeping garden chairs which you want to pass as recliners!!!!

No offence people, but you guys have worked hard for your respective HT, spent hard earned money and I feel pain when I look at these atrocities!!

If this is a temp arrangement, then its cool. Lest its a No-Go. I hope you guys did not feel bad about my comment. But, I want to be frank about this.

Cheers!!

Sumit: I know what you are saying. I have ear-marked a seperate budget for seats. Laz-boys are definitely not in the plan as they take too much space. I am yet to meet on chap who makes Home Theater Seats. Unfortunately, he is very busy and has not been able to make time to visit my home with his brochures and pics on his laptop. I know he is keen on doing my seating because he calls me once in a while. Since I am not in a hurry, I am not chasing him.

My problem is that my room is only 14 feet in length and the entrance door is situated on the rear wall. So, I think need atleast one of what Srini has suggested.

I like this one, same color too. Will check it out in person.

Santhosh: Listen Buddy, even the one suggested by you does not go with your decor. Give me some time. I shall work out a reasonable solution for you.
I need to know the exact clearances in your HT. Can you draw a small sketch and mail me the same?

Cheers!!

hi sumit , u are absolutely right , these are very basic recliners with a metal frame , the build quality is not great either but for 850 they are in my opinion VFM and quiet comfortable too provided u lay a layer of cushion on it ( for the cushion i paid abt 400 each with cover , bought it from a cane furniture shop)

have also chkd out the recliners from stanley , man they are expensive !!, cheapest costing abt 40k and they are too bulky , like santosh my room isnt too big either , so if i need to get 3 / 4 of these i wud end up spending more than 1 lakh ( @ this price i wud think of upgrading one of the A/v gear:yahoo: ) and also the room wud look too cramped

recently chkd out a recliner @ big bazaar for 10k it was a good imitation of the branded ones , but again very bulky

so for now i got these basic recliners , i can easily fit abt 5-6 of them in a row , and considering the price i can always change these @ a later date

thats the reason sumith i opted for these , if i find something good(@the price range of 2-3k will definetly change, but i cant afford to spend 40k for each recliner

Yes it is a good one,,,

With cushion you can see this also..Welcome to Sri Kumaran Indusries

Have dealers in banglore ( Welcome to Sri Kumaran Indusries ),, price is for deluxe is 2950 / regular is 2500

Regular is comforatble than deluxe....

Regards

srini , these look definetly ok ,
& also i guess its cost effective , are u using these , i wud definetly pick up 2-3 of these

am sure sumith wudnt be impressed with these recliners::mad:

what i like abt this is it does have support for the legs , light weight , can change if u come across something better!!

Subhash: What are you talking about dude?? You have the best of equipment, dedicated HT room with custom acoustics and you made your peace with beach chair!!!! Sorry, none of your self-pleasing notions about leg support and VFM is understandable by me.

Dear, these are not for you. These are good for someone who has built a basic HT in a living room or something.

Also, I am not suggesting you to buy 3-4 recliners and spend like 100k on the same. That is not a smart move. What you can do is buy a one recliner for yourself and rest you many buy comfortable sofas costing not more than 3-4k/seat for a good one. Good seating shall enhance the outlook of your HT.
Take is slow man, but do it right.

Imagine Guys: Subhash, sitting comfortably in his 'beach chair', thinking 'oh I love these chairs, what value for money, what comfort wow' then suddenly there is a loud thud from his Def tech supercube trinity and he sees the other chairs vibrating and moving all around the room!!!!!

What the F*** man? You are contemplating about buying one of the best subs def tech has ever made and you are willing to pay 100k for the same. And, you want to listen to the same in a F**k*** beach chair???

Please stop....you are giving me excruciating pain.

Subhash...please don't buy anymore of these. And, replace this when you get yourself apt seating. And, I shall help you get the perfect seating for your HT. Please mail me a sketch of your HT. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

No offence to the chair. But, it is not right place for the same.

Cheers!!

COOOL.. COOL..Looks like Sumit will go to the extent of contributing an :yahoo:recliner for Santhosh & Subhash  if you are not changing your mind...:licklips:

Sumit, Srini and Subhash, thanks for bringing me back on track.
Check out my earlier post http://www.hifivision.com/av-enhanc...theatre-room-please-guide-me-6.html#post68291
This is what I had in mind. Atleast one of these as my listening chair. Some day!!

These are the same thoughts I had too. My plan was to provide for three seats touching the rear wall. I wanted one of these (Srini's recommendation) just in front of the door, so we can move it around easily. But not anymore...Thanks again Sumit. I called up this Home Theater Seating chap Amit again after I saw your posts. He is dropping in tomorrow, hopefully we have a solution. Will check with you guys and then only proceed.

I am glad I could change your mind Santhosh. I am leaving work now. call me anytime.

Cheers!!

Sumit: Great Sense of Humour.. After reading your posts I could not stop myelf from Laughing.

Subhash: Sumit is right .... you have spent money on equipments and acoustics treatments so now save some and spend on some descent seating which would ultimately increase your feel good factor.

Hi Shubash & Santosh,

I am using the recliners from Stanley's, indeed they are expensive, i have paid Rs.72,000/-, it is pure leather, it occupies space, but they are extremely comfortable, it is a true recliner, class apart, this lazy boys are world leaders in such recliners.

My room was also not bigger earlier, but with a lot of planning i made the room bigger, one needs to be very effective during the planning stage.

Vinay

Hey Sumit,

So U saved one recliner from your end which you are about to give it to Santhosh:lol: Poor Santhosh you lost:sad:

Subash is waiting for your worddddd... Recliner:yahoo:

Just for "J"

Regards

that was ONE HELL OF A QUOTE MAN , really had fun reading that:lol:

ok , help me chose some good seaters for my set up but after some time, (till i collect some cash)
will send u a sketch of my set up

Problem is we can't hear them while watching a movie. Do you get ones with a display too in India?

I'm not sure, they are about roughly 6 - 7K here which are with monitor I suppose, I can check if you want.

If I even try this, I will be the one outside the HT taking care of my son:lol:.
About the link you provided, I expect the xtreamer solution to be more VFM

Just out of the HT, not your home then
